09-11-2008 - another update

My mood while writing this blog:
blessed

im feeling great the past couple of days. the c section is healing wonderfully and hopefully i will be back to 100% soon. im pumping like a mad woman because my son is needing the milk. they are going up in his feedings with every feed and he's chowing it all down. im still producing more than he is eating but i want to be ahead of the game.

we found out yesterday he has a disorder called MCADD. its not due to him being preemie or anything like that. its a genetic thing. basically his body cannot break down fats to use as energy. therefore it will use glucose causing him to be hypoglocemic. its really not a big deal. when he gets on solid foods he will be on a strict low to non fat diet. they preformed 30 different tests and that is the only one that came back positive. its nothing that could be prevented or anything like that. i carry the gene and so does my husband. so we together made a baby that has it.

other than that baby is fine. he looks really good. and he is doing great. the doctor said our only challenge is nipple feeding and weight gain. we dont have a timeline as to when we will get him home, but we are optomistic. it all depends on his progress.

I'm so happy for you! It's really good to hear that both you and baby are doing so well. I know you're looking forward to bringing little one home. Now you'll have your little one here for Christmas.

If your expressing like a mad woman as you put it please please keep feeding yourself well. It is so important for you to have good energy and that you can produce the quantity and quality milk you little man needs I had problems expressing I think partly due to not feeding myself well so please don't suffer like I did and take good care of yourself, your little boy wouldn't want it any other way as litlle boys trust me know how special their mummys are.
I wish you all the luck in the world as I know the trying times you are experiencing and may experience in the future, If I can be of any help at all where it come's to premi boys please do not hesitate to holla at me I will help in anyway I can.

thanks for the update. What a little miracle! To pass all the tests!! This doesn't seem like a major setback and something that can be maintained!!! Yay for lil man! what did you name him again? I forgot. Anyway blessings to you and a speedy plumping to the baby so he can come home!
