18-11-2008 - days are dragging

My mood while writing this blog: sick

i have a head cold. its driving me nuts. but my husband had the same thing and it only lasted a few days.

good news. my son is up to 2 pounds 12 ounces. so all in all he has gained 6 ounces. (he lost 2 after birth) he is still doing just fantastic. still no timeline as to when they will try nipple feeding. we are getting quite anxious about it. we are ready to have him home. we are able to take him out and hold him all by ourselves. scary at first. i was so afraid to hurt him in some way. he is becoming more alert when we pick him up. he looks around scoping things out. he is so precious. the light of my life.

things seem to be going ok around here though. i get slightly worried about my milk supply. at first i was getting about 2 oz every pump. now i am lucky to get an ounce and have to pump 30 minutes to get that. i pump every 2 hours around the clock in an effort to build up the supply. if for some reason i wait longer to pump- i get the exact same results. sometimes i think its the pump. i have the medela lactina select. i will run it until the milk stops flowing and then when i am done, i can usually squeeze more milk out with my hands. the pump doesnt seem to be emptying my breasts. im not sure why. i have to get an appointment with the lactation lady.

i go for my 2 week follow up tomorrow. i get to talk birth control. not sure what i am going to go with. the pills just dont seem like a good idea for me. i have a hard time remembering my vitamins much less taking a pill the same time every single day. we were thinking about the shot. but we will have to see. i will talk to the dr about my best options. as long as i dont end up preggo again any time soon. too much stress with this one.

my step daugher informed us she wants a little sister. she thinks that if we break this baby then we will be able to try for a girl. i had to explain to her that even if we had another baby it may end up being a boy too. so if she wants a sister she should tell her mommy. get the heat off me for a little while.

anyways thats whats going on with me. as boring as it is lol.
