09-12-2008 - trucking along

My mood while writing this blog:
excited

so my little man is 4 pounds 6 ounces. today he got moved to his big boy bed so no more isolette. he is regulating his body temp just perfectly. they are nipple feeding him on every feed HOWEVER he is having heart rate drops almost every single time. they are thinking he is working so hard with his temperature and the nipple feeding its just kinda making him tired. so they are going to continue until he gets used to it. the nurse said not too much longer. if he gets to where he is taking the whole bottle but still having the drops they will release him on an apnea monitor. so really it could be a week away. scary stuff lol. we have been getting gifts from some people that are helping with the preparation.

dh and i got into it because he has been talking about nothing but what he wants to get his daughter for christmas. and spending lots of money on her. however he has yet to even look at baby stuff. he hasnt bought one stitch of anything for him. he said you are making me sound like a bad father. that wasnt my point. my point was his daughter is more important to him than his son (at least that is the way he is acting) i understand he doesnt want her to feel like the baby is more important and that is not my goal either i love her like my own. however she doesnt need toys and stuff like that RIGHT NOW. she does need clothes but he doesnt want to get her boring gifts. because she wont like clothes. im just frustrated that we arent prepared for the baby and he is well on his way to coming home. i will be damned if my son suffers because he didnt want to prepare.

on another note my step daughter is in counseling at school now. she doesnt listen, she is a bully, and she wont do her work. DH was offended when they suggested counseling. so i reminded him she doesnt listen to us what do you think she does in school.....my step daughter is a severely spoiled child. the only person she listens to half the time is me because she knows i will bust her little butt. she knows daddy and everyone else wont do anything about it. grrr.

ok so im ranting now and i need to stop before i get angry.

Glad you and little one are doing good. Is it still looking good for him to come home before Christmas? Sounds like he's gaining weight well.
DH is being an ass, huh? Buying his daughter all these gifts and stuff for xmas isn't going to help her being spoiled. He needs to realize he isn't helping her, he's hurting her by letting her act this way. My brother did the same thing with his son and he ended up having no friends when he started school because he was so horrible no one wanted to be around him. Not to mention no one wanted to babysit him because he was a nightmare. I know we all love and want to spoil our children, but I can never understand it when parents let their kids run wild and act horribly. Hope he sees the light soon.

First off congrats on how well your son is doing, I know every little milestone brings relief to u because it means he's one step closer to being home. On the step daughter issue unfortunately I can relate. I have the same issue and it upsets me the same way. My husband keeps putting his daughter in front of our son because he doesn't want her to be feeling like she's losing him. I'm worried what is going to happen when he actually arrives. I know my husband is more into his daughter than his son because he hasn't come out yet but who knows what will happen when he's here. I hope things work out for you guys.
