11-7-2008 - update on awful d/a

Ugh so just when my week seems to be getting better i had my "28week" appt 2day!! Overall it SUCKED BUTT!! First off i was already feeling bad all day so i get my vitals checked and i'm sitting out in the waiting room....i feel like i have to vomit, having the WORST heartburn, and i'm like sweating bullets and asked the also pregnant lady beside me if it was hot in there and she's like "No, honey thats you. Are you alright?" Dang on OB was running behind as usual so my appt was at 3:45 and wasn't seen until after 4. BUT i asked her if she had a good vacation cause she was soooo chippery and talkative today. Well anyways so come to find out i weighted in today at 127.6lbs and mind you at my last appt i was 127.2lbs so of course i was upset about that and she said she is very worried considering i'm already such a tiny girl i should be gaining alot more than average. BLAH!!! Then my freaking blood pressure was a lil higher than normal and she was afraid that my blood pressure might be on the verge of going high again. So she has me lay down to check his heartbeat and here goes those darn contractions. So she's like oh gosh your having a contraction do you feel how tight it is....thinking in my head i'm like yeah woman i feel the freaking pressure how can i not!! So i explain to her how i'm having quite a few contractions during the day and most are accompanied by back pains almost like cramps and alot of pressure. So of course she tells me shes worried about that and its a sign that i will most likely go into early labor and if it happens again to come in immediately in L&D. She asked me if i'm still working and i told her only weekends. She said that still might be too much standing and i should take it easy because she doesn't want to put me on bedrest. Anyways so she steps out for a min to get one of my records and DF texts me saying his work stuff is in the car i drove so i need to come straight home. So when she comes back i tell her about these horrible heartburns i been having everyday all day and once again last night i woke up choking off of acid reflux..she prescribed me some Zantac and insisted i take it twice a day so i can eat more and gain more weight. After us chit chatting for a lil while my appt was over and i went next door to schedule my next one...surprisingly and for the first time ever there was no line at all so i took not even 2 mins. So headed over to the pharmacy to my Zantac and OMG it was ridicilous line and my name hadn't even appeared on the board yet. I must of waited just for my name to show up for 30 mins (knowing it would take another 30 just standing in line to get it)!! I finally gave up and left considering i had to make it home in time for DF to get ready and be to work on time. I figured oh no problem i'll come and get it 2morrow before he goes to work....then i get home and realize DUH Keisha 2morrow is Saturday they're not open AND i have to work all day 12-9!!! GRRRR so that means i have to deal with this awful heartburn alllll weekend!! =[ and i've tried Tums and Rolaids but they don't work for me!! Oh and here's the worst part...i was in such a rush to make sure i got home in time that i didn't even realize until my DF asked me that my OB didn't mention anything about last u/s and the whole big issue about my due date!! Don't think it could of gone any worse.Sorry this was soo long...just needed to vent. Its nice to talk to people that understand what you're going through because we all know we can give eachother a different comfort than our significant others that have don't know how hard it is being pregnant. Thanks ladies for reading. I hope all of you and your babies are doing well!!!

i know how you feel hun i had my appt today too and come to find out my glucose test came back high so i might be at risk for diabetes and i have to take the 3 hr test and i know heartburn lolliepops big time i get it or acid reflex everyday and i take prilosec maximum strength. i hope you get to feeling better and have a better week.

How much overall have you gained? I have gained 13 lbs so far and I am right with you at 29.5 weeks. And I am not small mind you. As for your BP being slightly elevated, not feeling well and stress does make it worse. Your OB should have had you lie back and relax and recheck before releasing you. As for contractions and back pains, if you do get anymore go to L&D. You do not want to have a preemie. Been there done that rollercoaster ride. Drink more fluids to help ease the contractions. I also get hot flashes.

Milk does help with acid reflux. Stay away from high acid foods (Tomato based products, broccoli and the like.

My poor honey wow. I'm sorry you had an awful day on top of it being hot as ever on the earth! ((((hugs))))) Relax we don't want you to get put on bedrest it sucks i should know.lol Have a good weekend
