14-8-2008 - childbirth class

so we had another one of our childbirth classes tonight!!! It was so informative and fun!! This one was teaching us about relaxation and breathing so we had to bring pillows and our birthing balls. We practiced many different labor postions and breathing techniques for certain stages of labor. Oh and then the "fun" part...we had to hold handfuls of ice in both hands and for those of u who have never done it before are probaly like "yeah ok the point is" but it hurts so bad...my fingers started cramping up and for some reason my arm muscles right below my shoulder (you know where u get shots at) would throb, have sharp pains and then go numb once i let the ice go!! UGH it was so crazy! I hated my fiance was stuck at work because this was the most important class and it would of been nice to have him learn some of the techniques with me as well but my MIL went with me and she was my coach for the night so it went well. It was a good learning experience and a great way to prepare for labor since they said the ice pain is only a fifth of the labor pains!! UGH u can't be serious...kind of scared me a little especially since i'm striving for a completely natural birth in other words an unmedicated vaginal birth. I highly reccommend everyone to take childbirth classes
