04-9-2008 - d/a update

My mood while writing this blog:
mixed emotions

So as of some of ya'll know i had my 37wk d/a yesterday. I had to see a different doc because my OB didn't have any openings. So anyways he started off with the usual. I also asked him about the internal exams when i realized he wasn't going to check and he gave me the same answer that basically they have no routine on doing them simply because it is known that woman can go into L&D in full blown active labor and just the day before was not effaced or dilated at all while others can be 3cm and fully effaced for weeks at a time. So i guess its a good thing that way my hopes are brought up and then let down if things don't progress as quickly as i would of hoped. Anyways so he went to check for the heartbeat...once again it was faint but steady so it was obvious it was because of his position. So this time the doc went and got the little u/s machines to do a quick scan and sure enough he is not in the right position. He's actually laying caddy corner. The doc said that when i got into labor the contractions should motivate him to move into the right position and if not than i will have to have a c-section!! i'm really bummed about that because you ladies know how bad i wanted a unmedicated natural birth. Well to top that off i also tested postive for GBS so i have to have antibiotics during labor so i can't hold out at home as long as i wanted to during my early labor that way i have more of chance going natural being comfortable in my own surroundings. I'm at the point now that i'm so tempted to ask my OB next week to just schedule me a c-section instead of having a emergency c-section. I don't know i just want my baby safe and healthy.

What position is Caddy Corner? Is it upside down? And it'll be alright gurl! Just have FAITH in yourself, your babe and your body! If your doc feels he may be able to turn.. you could give him the chance then when you go into labor, ya know? I would ask too mayb' how often he has seen this, and how often, or what are the chances/percentage of him coming thru the birth canal 'as he should' , maybe that will help you make your decision about scheduling it or not, but I'm really curious to know what position it is I'm thinking of! =oP Also don't worry about the GBS, advice I should take myself.. but just practice practice PRACTICE your relaxation techniques, and your pain coping methods, and then when the day comes you just put your EVERYTHING into all of what you have learned and taught yourself and have FAITH that you can do it, it might be hard but just block the hospital out when you are there and just try your hardest to focus on what you want, ya know? At least this is what I'm going to try and do... it seems like the hospital puts women in labor in a 'hospital' state of mind, like "shyt, machines.. gowns.. nurses doctors AHHH something's wrong!!" but actually it's not and we gottas TRY to look at it the same in the hospital as if we were at home, I think if we can do it here we can do it anywehere, it's just tough! But maybe not as tough as we think.. we won't know til after all is said and done, but ultimately, no matter how it happens, meds or not as long as he is born and healthy all will be good after! Awww everything should turn out just fine. Just remember to remind them that you tested positive for GBS so they can give you at least 4 hours of the meds before lil J is born. I know its in your chart but you know how floks like to tell you they did not know and we can't have that happening to you. I wish you all the best of everything!
