30-7-2009 - Question about BIRTH CONTROL

My mood while writing this blog: confused...as always

Ok this is going to be kind of confusing. I had my son last Sept 27th. Since then i've only had one period which started on that Nov 2nd. I was exclusively breast feeding him up until maybe 3 weeks go while on the mini pill. Never spotted and never had a period. I've been off the mini pill for more than 3 weeks now since i was told by a midwife that once i stop bf the mini pill will not work for me since it does not have estrogen BUT when i went to my doc appt today i saw a different doctor and she said i could still take the mini pill even if i wasn't bf anymore. Now i'm confused because i still haven't had a period. When i asked the doctor when should i start the new pack she said something about i could either wait to take it the first day of my cycle or i could go straight through the pack so i won't have a cycle. i'm still a bit confused. i thought i the directions would further explain it but it simply said to start the first day of cycle. When i was bf and taking it originally i just started it like my midwife had told me 6 weeks postpartum. I also took them everyday at the same time straight thru. As i stated its the mini pill (microno or also called nor qd). So what i'm trying to ask is what should i do? Should i try to wait for a period to start or should i just start it now since i've only had two periods in the past two years? Sorry if i'm not making sense. Also there are no different color pills, no break pills, no reminder pills. TIA
