| 23-6-2008 - Things new mother's may like to know | My mood while writing this blog:helping out |
I am a mother of 4 and below are some things that helped me cope with a new baby. Feel free to leave comments.
1) QUIET IN THE ROOM! At least when I'm having contractions. You are unable to talk during contractions for the most part and they hurt...regardless what anyone says. To me, contractions are the worst part. Pushing the baby is out is a relief...recovery is the second worst thing. I needed people to just stop mid sentence while I was having a contraction (until I got the epidural). Also, as I posted on the 23 week page...what helped me during labor is not having anyone annoying in the room. Levels of annoyingness sky rocket when in labor. Looks, sounds, touches that never bothered you before...WILL!
2)for the first 3 months I relied on the vibrating bouncy chair. See link.

for 4 months up (when they want to stand up on you all of the time) I LOVED the free standing jumper. My daughter lived in this thing and helps them balance themselves as well as give you free time to get things done! See link.

3)You will get much advice on what to do with an unhappy baby. All may work, or none may. Each baby is different. Most newborns do like to be wrapped tight (swaddled). Others may want to go in a swing to be rocked, mine didn't! If the baby is fussy but has been fed, changed, burped, loved on and nothing is working...let them cry and see they can sooth themselves. Also remember that Mylecon drops for gas HELP A LOT! We do not know when they are gassy or if their bellies are hurting, Mylecon is safe to give for the uncertainties. TRY IT when nothing else works!!
