17-9-2008 - 36 wek appt, scheduled c-section and size of baby giant

Well, I went to my 36 week appt and got an u/s to see how big the baby had gotten and to see if she was still breech. She is not breech and has grown a good bit since my last u/s at 31.5 weeks. At that point she was 5 lbs 12 oz and was measuring 34 1/2 weeks. Well, my baby giant is measuring 39 weeks and weighs 8 lbs 2 oz. My hopes for having at least one small baby have completely diminished. He did the strep B test and checked for dilation..which one nonexistant. Cervix is still high and hard. Not that this shocked me because I have never actually went into labor early.

I only gained 2 lbs...which is what I had gained last appt as well. Which brings me to a total of 30 lbs. I can live with that. We scheduled my voluntary c-section for 10/09/08, I will be 39 weeks. I am sooo excited that I have a definitive date that I know I won't go past. The babies gain about 1/2 lb a week from now on so she still has 3 weeks to fatten up even more. Oh yay! NOT!

somehow i ended up onyour page!!lol..i always skim.....but i noticed in your ast blog that you said you were having a c-section,than one of the comments was they were surprised given the size of the baby that they didnt take you sooner!! i was indeuced at 38 weeks with my son, they told me the week before he was only 8lb 3oz... when i had him he weighed 9ln 10oz.. i am only 5'2 115lb...so this was a massive thing!!lol....but you have given me hope that my next few babies will be large as wel!!!lol....and i will be in the same boat as you not knowing what its like to have a 7-8 pounder!!! I went to the doctor on Monday and I was 35 weeks 4 days and the baby was measuring 6lbs 1oz and I'm 11/2 cm dilated. I have my induction scheduled for 10/9/08 also, If I make it. I'm kinda hoping to go into labor next Thursday when I reach 37 weeks. I doubt it will happen though since I was always induced, but it doesn't hurt to wish.

Well AT my 34 week appt. My baby girl was measuring 37 weeks. She was 6 lbs 2 oz. I so hope they do something like that with me soon. Good luck to you!!

Whoa that's a big girl, LOL. But at least you know she's healthy! Glad you have your date. Hope you are feeling ok.
