29-12-2008 - Sitting Comfortably

Well, looks like baby is enjoying hanging out in there. Went to the midwife today. We were planning on doing the sweep but I am not even dilated so she couldn't get in to the cervix to sweep the membranes. Sigh. She did say I am about 50% effaced, which is good.

One thing that surprised me was that baby is not even engaged. She said he is at -2 position. Wow. I have been feeling a lot of pressure in my lower belly and my bum, sometimes it even takes my breath away, and he's not even in the birth canal! Shew. I'm glad I know that because I need to rearrange my thinking and prepare for a lot more than what I expected. I am thrilled to have a natural birth and know I will do well, but boy do I have a lot in store! Yikes!

I included a picture from last week in the photo section (wearing the blue shirt). Also added one from July (the one with my belly showing).... I can't BELIEVE how much my body has changed! It's truly amazing. I don't know why the picture from last week is so huge. I tried to resize it on snapshots, but it did nothing. Used the same camera, any suggestions?

Oh, had some drama with my Grandmother-in-Law the last few days. Weird. I get along wonderfully with my in-laws, they're all great. I had heard that this Grandma is very sensitive and have seen how people tip toe around her, but had yet to experience it. Well, I am not going to tip toe around anyone and I hate it when people don't say what they feel or try to manipulate to get what they want. So, I stood my ground (with love) and, hopefully, now she will understand how I communicate and that she can't pull the same tricks with me. I am sure glad things like that are the exception to the rule with Hubby's family. I read about some of the things you all have dealt with concerning in-laws and it amazes me! A tiny little tiff with my new Grandma and I was so upset I was shaking and couldn't stop giving her lectures in my head last night!

I'm sorry that you weren't able to get stripped :( Joel is acting so comfortable too! Even though, his head was engaged when I saw my dr last Monday and I saw the midwife again yesterday and she said his head had engaged beautifully! He just doesn't seem to want to come any futher though!
