| 25-6-2008 - Morning Update from Grandma | My mood while writing this blog:Hopeful |
Good Morning! I am Brittanys Mother and Lilliannas Nana. I am updating this site this morning as my daughter is so busy and still recovering from the birth as you can imagine. She doesnt have much time to get online at the hospital. First I want to say "Thank you" from the bottom of my heart to each and every one of you that have left Comments and prayers and added Britt to your friends network here. I appreciate your warm sentiments. It helps to give us hope hearing from others out there and knowing we have our own little support team standing behind us here.
Now, on to better news. We just off the phone with the Nurse in the NICU and Lilly is doing absolutley Wonderful! She has been 24 hours without the aid of the Respirator and breathing on her on beautifully. Praise God! I was just so worried over that precious baby. I never had a preterm child, all mine were full term, but my second child was in the hospital for 3 weeks at birth in the NICU so I can help my daughter in that respect. He is also a Special Needs Child. He is 17 now and a lot has changed since then. I think just being there and watching Lilly those first couple hours without the respirator struggling to breathe on her own was just overwhelming to me. I keep telling myself Im strong and have to be for her and for Brittany. But, all those old feelings of when my son was in the NICU fighting for his life just came washing back over me and I got so sick at my stomach and was in tears. I have yet to see my daughter break down, she has been so absolutley strong through this whole ordeal. She deserves a gold medal. You know u cant help but wonder what went wrong, she took her vitamins, she didnt drink and she doesnt smoke, she of course did not do any drugs either. She took complete and total care of herself throughout the whole pregnancy. She had the Nursery Completed by the 4th Month of her pregnancy. NO one could be more proud to have a child than she..and then this happened. I have to beleive there is a reason to all things. And I now know why I suffered so with my son in those early years, so that I could help her today with her daughter. Please keep the well wishes coming, they help us both to cope right now. They say Lilly is much better than she was yesterday, they had to give her a little more saline because she was loosing so much of it, but other than that, she is doing great. I am bringing Britts camera home this evening and Ill try and upload some more pictures of the little angel this evening.
