Hey ladies hope all is going well for you...So i just wanted to let you know that i have just got back from my 17 week appt. with ym doctor, the babies heart rate sounded good 184 bpm. my weight gain looks good and my doctor is tring to convince me to get the quad screening or AFP test done, now my thing is whether the baby has down syndrom or not im still going to love he/she no matter what and i did not get this test with my son should i get it this time around! My doctor tried to convince me to since i only have another 2 weeks or so to decide please give me your opinion on the matter thanks a bunch!

hi i just read your posting and I personally did not get the quad screening done. When I spoke to my doctor she broke it down like this...."are you planning to baort if your child has this?" when my answer was absolutely not she said not to bother getting it done becasue it is only going to add to the stress of pregnancy. I am very confident in my decision. As I have gotten further along there have been many worries, and I would not want ot be worried about something that I could not change. Your chances of having any problems like that at your age are also very very slim. Good luck to you!

I wouldn't get it. There are too many false positive results to risk freaking yourself out over if they come back that way. Then you'll have to go and have more tests done, probably to find out that they worried you over nothing. Being so young and already having one healthy baby, I would say to skip the test. You'll be able to see somethings when you have your ultrasound anyway.

You are 19 the risk is EXTREMELY low.... Why is she pushing it on you? Were there any test results or sonos that have indicated that your risk level is higher than others your age? If you dont care one way or another I wouldnt bother because I had one cause they found something in my sono that they had me all freaked out about and they take 3 tubes of blood to check for 4 proteins and they will give you a statistic number on what your rick is. Mine was 1 in 5000 lol so I think its safe to say my baby is just fine lol.
