15-4-2008 - 24 week update and photo OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

Life is ticking along well. We have had my in laws staying for a few days and it has been nice to catch up.
Last week was busy with something on every night. This week is a bit quieter but I am trying to juggle all the kids activities at the moment. The girls are all playing Netball and are all practicing and playing on different nights. It means being at the courts 4 evening/afternoons a week. also the girls have music lessons on a Wed and Friday and the boys do swimming lessons on a Friday. I want them all to be able to have the opportunity to do these things but it does take a bit of running to and fro. These are the extra challenges with a bigger family. David is a bit worried that I am overdoing it but I am really just the taxi service. It's more about fitting it all in without disrupting family life too much. We'll see how it goes this season and go from there.

As far as the pregnancy goes, I am fit as a fiddle. I think baby has turned head down as I am feeling a lot more pressure down low and have started to feel BH contractions more frequently. They can be a bit uncomfortable a bit like the feeling of period cramps. I notice that if I am up on my feet a lot I get a lot more of them. I like getting them as I know it is my uterus exercising itself in preparation for the main event.

I have friends wanting to do a baby shower for me but I really feel funny about having one. I don't really need anything. The only thing I am considering is getting some all in one cloth nappies but they are expensive and I wouldn't want people feeling they needed to pay big amounts of money. I also don't like to be the center of attention. I would prefer to go out with a few girl friends for a coffee without kids and just enjoy some time together before bubs comes and not worry about
presents. The problem is that I know people will still think they should get me something. I have such a great group of friends and they really are special so it's a fine line between letting them do what they want as far as a baby shower goes so I don't look ungrateful and getting over my unease of it all.

It was my birthday yesterday and I had a lovely day. David was off work and we went out for breakfast with the kids. We both got a lovely cooked meal while the kids had pancakes and hot chocolate. It was great to see them enjoying it so much. We then blobbed out for the afternoon as it was pretty stormy and wet. In the evening we went to my Mums place. She cooked a beautiful roast chicken meal, Yum!!!! It was a little awkward as My brother has recently left his wife for another woman ( he's not in my good books but I still love him because he's my brother) I really wanted him there for the dinner but I also wanted his wife and kids there as they are more family to me than he is at the moment. They all ended up coming and It was all very amicable but my brother looked very uncomfortable and nervous. It was great of my sister in law to be so accommodating. She still loves him and would take him back if he decided to do the right thing. It will be interesting to see how things work out in the end. I just pray he comes to his senses and sees what a good thing he had. I just keep on praying.

I've heard that the coffee thing is a great idea for successive births. I've also heard of the "We've been so blessed by God to have fortunate lives, and as we already have children, we've selected ____ charity for donations if you've elected to bestow us with gifts." We've been to a couple weddings where they've asked for charitable contributions in their names in lieu of gifts as well as weddings where they skip the "favors" at the tables and say "In honor of your table, we've donated in favor of ___ charity."
Seems kind of fitting for your personality, too!
By the way- you're looking smashing, Mommy!
