19-5-2008 - The things no one tells you no.19 Peeing your pants, OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

Someone else has prompted me to write a bit about bladder control. A lot of us find that sneezing and coughing during pregnancy can cause great pressure on the bladder and cause a wee woopsy. We can put it down to a baby pushing on the bladder and less control. The thing I want to mention now is about after birth. LEARN YOUR BLADDER EXERCISES NOW!!!!!!
One lady has mentioned to me that after her second child she would pee a bit when having contractions after the birth. I have not had this issue myself but thought I would share it anyway.

Get onto your pelvic floor exercises straight away after birth. I remember trying to jump on a trampoline a few weeks after having my first baby and getting the shock of my life. I wet my pants!!! Oh No. I just didn't have the control I thought I had. It was a good wake up call to do some exercises.

Here's a link to find out more about Kegel exercises.

The other up side is that exercises can also do wonders for your sex life.

When I was about 37 weeks with my first baby one night I woke up to fluid all over my legs. I got up to go to the bathroom and it just kept pouring out I had zero control over it and thought it was not pee. I woke my husband up and made him smell it (soooo gross) he is awesome anyway we went to the hospital and was not amniotic fluid so I must have peed myself it was such a wierd feeling. I am 8 weeks now with the second and hope I do not have a repeat of that episode with the second one. lol

If you leak urine a while after giving birth, most likely your bladder has shrunk, you can get a minor operation to stitch it back up.

yep i remeber for thew first couple months peeing my self alot. if i coughed or sneezed or my hubby would make me laugh i would pee. i would even announce it to him and he would laugh at me. but kegels are great and i dont really have this problem anymore. plus they help build those muscles back up. if you dont do them it can actually become quite serious. your muscles can make everything in your lower half sag down and you could have to see a specialist and might even need surgrey.. so do your kegels girls

I found myself making a little tinkle after a good sneeze or when I had a cold I would make an oopsy after a coughing spell. I do the exercises but it still tends to happen. Never had it happen when I wasn't pregnant though thank goodness!

I feel like I have lost some bladder control now. I sometimes feel my baby move and then... guess what??? I have to go... BAD!

LOL...when I ran out of panty liners, I was like, no big deal, I will get some tomorrow..I walked from my bathroom to the bedroom across the house, and I PEED! I was horrified!!! lol, I went and got some that MINUTE! I do the Keegle excercises, and its fun to do them during daddy time...lol So after the baby, I hope I will still have control.
