| 12-2-2009 - Madison had Pneumonia | My mood while writing this blog:getting less worried |
Madison has been a very sick girl lately. Around Jan 25th she had a cold and ran a fever for a day. She seemed to be getting better, still had a runny nose. Then on 02/5 she woke up with a nasty sounding cough. I toke her to the doctors. Spent 4 1/2 hours in the waiting room with a ton of sick kids, her docs have walk in sick appts(first come first serve) Finally we got back to the exam room. Doc said she was wheezing and needed a breathing treatment. She did not like that at all. She had been running aroun 100.5 fever all day. After the treatment she sounded better. The doc prescribed Albuterol syrup(instead of having the machine), to start the next day if needed. So after total of 6 hours at doc offic we went home She still sounded good until around 3pm on 02/06. She was wheezing alot and her cough was back to nasty sounding. I gave her the medicine and she threw it up. Then her fever was back to 101.5. Called the doc and had to leave a message. Her breathing did not seem right, so I took her to the ER. They ran bloodwork, RSV tests, chest Xray. She had to have another breathing treatment. They said she had pneumonia. I was ticked that we were just at the docs and they said it was a bad cold. ER visit was 6 hours. They gave her an antibotic shot(that stung). They sent us home with the breathing treatment machine, prescripitions for three medicines. We had to go back to her doc on Sat 02/06 for a recheck. Even though we had an appt for Sat we were still at the docs for another 4 hours. She had to have one more antibotic shot before we started oral antibotics to help start them working faster. She had to continue the breathing treatment 3-4 times a day and steroid syrup for 5 days. Then had to go back to the docs on Mon 02/08 for a recheck. that was only a 2 hour visit. She had no fever since Saturday morning. She does not like taking the medicines so we give it over 20 mins so she does not threw them up. She is doing tons better. She is only having a breathing treatment once a day now and down to only taking the antibotic medicine. She still has a cough but much better sounding. As long as she is doing better we do not have to go back to the docs until 6 month check up. I hated seeing her so very sick. Andrew was never sick as a baby no colds, no fevers, no ear infections. I think he was around 2 years before he had an ear infection. We were very lucky. I was scared to death. She did not sleep well, I did not sleep at all. I was up all night watching her breath. Myself and my sibilings were very sick babies and my brother had stopped breathing once and I remember that vividly since I am7 years older than him. I was no scared and nervous for her.
To top off last weekend and the start of this week. Myself, Andrew and hubby Mike ended up sick also. I have scrubbed everything down and sprayed Lysol everywhere. I am hoping all germs are gone.
Madison is finally back to my happy little girl. She was laughing, smiling, and giving mommy big only wet, drooly kisses today.
