| 18-9-2008 - September Check-Up | My mood while writing this blog:Relieved |
Phew!!! After a few weeks of looking forward and dreading my pre-natal appt today, it's over and done with. Not that it's a bad thing, because I love my baby appointments, it's just that I've been having this deep down gut feeling, that I've been trying to avoid, that something was going to be wrong with the baby. I'm probably reading too many horror stories about what COULD happen. Plus what I went through last December with my triplets is still very very fresh in my mind.
So anyways, I've gained some weight (EEK!) since 4 weeks ago, which I suspected, and my blood pressue was 122/68. Thank You!!! So all she did today was check the baby. She put the doppler on my tummy.......nothing. She's moving it around all over the place, all we could hear was my body noises, so loud! No heartbeat. Now I'm starring at the ceiling, fighting back tears because of the fear that I've been having was coming true. Here we go again. She said that the baby was being stubborn, and she was going to go get the ultrasound machine. All I said was OK, and she told me to relax, that there was no need to panic. I just looked at my hubby, and couldn't say anything, I would have busted out crying! So in comes the machine, hooks it up, puts the probe on my belly, and there's my little peanut! I'm looking franticly for the heartbeat, couldn't find it. Now I'm seriously panicking. She moves it around a little, and there it is!!!!! WOW I've never been so relieved. The baby was sleeping, and I mean totally not moving. On top of that, the baby is facing my spine, so his or her body was blocking the waves for the doppler which is why we couldn't hear it. PLUS, the baby was curled up like a shrimp. I just laughed! I've never seen an ultrasound where the baby doesn't even move a limb! But my doctor said at this stage of the game, almost 15weeks, the baby can sleep up to 30 minutes at a time, but the heartbeat was very strong and looks great. I'm poking my belly, and she's jabbing me with the probe, and the baby didn't even flinch! HA HA Soooo cute. I going to have quite the sleeper when he/she comes! (So I'm told!)
Sorry for such a long write-up. The whole appointment lasted MAYBE 10-15 minutes? LOL Now I can feel a lot better. Next appointment, October 16th with my ultrasound at 18weeks...boy or girl???? YAY I so cannot wait! I hope you all are feeling much better with the 2nd trimester under our belts. I couldn't be happier!
