| 12-3-2009 - A Break To Catch Up | My mood while writing this blog:Doing Alright |
So much has been going on, I'm trying to catch up with all of you girls! Now I'm going to start from the beginning, so it may be long. lol
Friday Feb 27th, I went into the hospital to get induced due to high blood pressure. I had done a 24-hr urine test, & my doctor called and told me to get into the hospital...we need to get this baby out! So into L&D I go again, and at 7:23pm on Saturday, Feb. 28th, my little boy Michael was born. Healthy and perfect, 6pounds 12.5ounces. On Monday, March 2nd, we came home, baby just being 41 hours old (yes I counted! lol). Tuesday the baby was a little fussy, and Wednesday we took him to his 1st doc appt. I was breastfeeding, so they wanted to check him and his weight. My poor baby was now down to 5pounds 11ounces, and severely jaundice. They did a billiruben check on him, and 2 hours later the doctor called me and said she wanted him back into the hospital that night, so back we go again. My poor Michael was under the phototherapy lights for 2 days, only coming out so I could feed him. I cried so much, 2days straight to be infact, and wouldn't leave his side. On Friday, March 6th, his levels were down so low, we finally came home again! He now weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce. At this doctor's appt on Monday the 9th, we weighed 6 pounds 5.5ounces, so the weight is coming back and his cheeks are cute and getting chunky. I love kissing them!!!!! lol Now as far as the breastfeeding goes, I tried. The baby wasn't latching on right, and he was cutting my nipples to the point they were bleeding, but still I sucked it up and kept on trying. I used nipple shields, and pumped into bottles and fed him that way. Now I say screw that. So many sleepless nights because he was sick, in the hospital, and then feedings and pumpings took a good hour-hour and a half, I was not sleeping what-so-ever. It wasn't healthy for either me or the baby, so instead of just supplementing him with folmula, I decided to give it to him full time. So I tried my hardest. Even had 2 different lactation consultants...but in the end, the health and weight gain for my baby was upmost important, especially to get rid of the billiruben in his system. I will try again if I was to be blessed with another baby, just this time with everything going on, it was too much. Now Michael is sleeping on Daddy, I have to go take more pictures!!! I just wanted to give you all a little update. Hope you all are doing well. :o)
