09-11-2009 - Michael's Eye Surgery

Hi Everyone :o)

Michael went for surgery for the 1st time today. He's had a blocked tear duct since he's been 2 weeks old. He wakes up with his eye glued shut pretty much every day, plus it drains and it's goopy, people keep asking what's wrong with my baby! (grrrr) Nothing's "wrong" with him, his eye is just blocked. So anyways, he went in for day surgery this morning. He did so well! In his little jauney! OMG so cute...flirting with the nurses, talking, smiling. They had me dress in a bunny suit, with the foot covering and hair bonnet...the works. I sat with him until he was under anesthesia, then I had to go. About 15 minutes later his doctor came out to get me & Bobby, all went well :o) As we're walking down the hall to get him, I can hear him crying :o( My baby was hungry!!! SO he guzzled down about 6-7 ounces of apple juice, a big burp later, and we were good to go. Less than an hour later we're home. No side effects from the anesthesia. So all in all, it was a success! Now there is still a small chance that the surgery didn't completely work, but we're keeping our fingers crossed that Michael won't have to go through this again.
