Displeased

Ok, so at my 6 week check-up, i had gotten a pap smear (which i hear they aren't supposed to even do that early after preg due to inflammation). It came back abnormal... WEIRD since i got one just before and while pregnant and it was normal. So anyway, they tell me to come back and they will do a colposcopy to check and see if there really are abnormal cells present and biopsy if needed. So OF COURSE wouldn't you know it, they did a biopsy to scrape out some abnormal skin cells to see if they go any deeper then the surface. The nurse hands me a paper when they were done that just so happens to be formatted for biopsies already (they must do it A LOT) and says "Come back in 3 weeks to get the results of the biopsy and we'll discuss a treatment plan". Very weird to say we'll discuss a TREATMENT plan when supposedly you don;t even know if i have "pre-cancer" OR "HPV" yet. WTF. I think the system is rigged. All of a sudden out of no where 80% of women have pre-cancer cells that "must be removed". When i brought it up to a few people, they said "yea, that happened to me to". I just find it odd. So being said... now i go today today get my results. I already know they are going to tell me that i have "pre-cancerous" cells that need to be removed via freezing, burning, or scraping a cone out... I have heard when you are young, they're supposed to only freeze or burn it, because scraping can lead to miscarriages in future pregnancies, and result in needing a circlage "stitch in your cervix". I think it is ALL a big MONEY scam and they say and do these procedures so often now "because they can" and use it as "preventative care" like a dentist. It is ridiculous in my opinion, but now i have fallen into the trap.. so i will go today and bare the results in seek of a "treatment plan". Missing more work, worrying about some non-existent problem, and feeling gross about my body. So be it...

***UPDATE***
YUP... according to them, it is HPV and i need surgery or it CAN progress to cancer in 8-12 yrs... Well of course i don't wanna risk that, but I am going to get a second opinion. I think they just look for ways to train their interns... Thanks to all who responded!!! <3

Hey there. I would most definitely get a second opinion. I had an abnormal pap at my first prenatal visit and my doc gave me another one in my 7th month of pregnancy which came back normal. I'm sorry to hear that yours came back HPV, however, I've never heard of them doing any kind of biopsy after just one pap. Best of luck to you.

If you feel that strongly about it (Womens intuition is no BS) go to a different doctor and get a second opinion. Get a third if you need to. Seriously, doctors are not God. They don't know everything and they do make mistakes. Don't do nothing, please, just in case. But, really, go see someone else. No matter what, my mom has always sworn by second opinions on serious stuff. People have been diagnosed with stuff only to find out later there was nothing wrong. This whole HPV crap and vaccine really burns me up. I have sworn if they make that a mandatory shot for school in my state, I will move. That vaccine is killing young girls.

I think you could be surprised. Im sure all it is is some kind of HPV infection that will clear itself up. Altho most people are about money these deals defiantely dont sell doctors short when it comes to your health.
