| 02-5-2008 - 33 Weeks!! | My mood while writing this blog:maybe a bit loopy... |
33 weeks today, and to be honest, there was a part of me that thought I wouldn't make it this long. Judging by the genetics in my family, I'm keeping fingers crossed that he hangs in there for another 3 - 4 weeks at least... I arrived for my mom at around 31 weeks, although my sister lasted until 35, I think. I have a lot of pressure on my pelvic floor sometimes, and I'm not sure whether this is the beginning of "lightening" or what's going on... but it comes on with my BH now, and I think it's the contractions squashing him down and placing pressure on my pelvis.
Preparations are going well... I was hoping to put up some pics of the nursery this weekend, but I'm loathe to do it until we've gotten our painting from our friend in the UK, who has so kindly agreed to let us abuse his talent by painting two amazing pieces for the nursery... he's completed the smaller one, which is SO beautiful, and is working on the larger one as we speak. I feel I might just wait for a bit until they're up, but the rest of the place looks great. The only thing I don't like is that due to space constraints, baby has to share his room with my big ugly folded up treadmill... it's well secured though (I know all about accidents with kids and exercise equipment), and fortunately it's a large room. I also bought him his first "piggy bank" as is tradition in my family, and his first euro went in as soon as I got it home. It's a mad cow in this little paddock lol.
It feels as though I get bigger every day, and I now definitely can't drive the car, which means my last few weeks will be VERY relaxing at home, but am slowly but surely getting around to organising things. I started packing my hospital bag last week, and just have to put in my nightdresses (I bought two BEAUTIFUL ones online - the ones in the shops here are just AWFUL). I'd put them in now, but I can't stop wearing them, wayyyy too comfortable. Plus, I love the way they show off my belly. I'm so proud of my stretched, stretch-marked, funny-looking belly.
I'm definitely getting more irritable though, and find most people in the office giving me a wide berth, as I don't think twice before telling someone I think they're a complete drain on the gene pool... It seems like my mouth just takes off with me and I can't stop it... anyone ever heard of pregnancy-related Tourettes?? lol, or is this something every PG woman goes through? I think much of it is down to the stress of having to finish up in the next 13 working days(!!) and the fact that my bright-spark boss has gotten someone in to cover the admin side of my work, but NOT the legal (idiot!!), leaving this stupid new tart who has all the sense of a gnat, the communication skills of an average moss-covered rock, and the legal training of a tree-frog to "assess" my incoming contracts for the company. I am loathe to think of the mess I will come back to after 6 months :(
J got to feel baby-boy's hiccoughs last night for the first time, and even got to feel the little temper tantrum he throws in utero when he's had enough of hiccoughing... he gets so cross, and "throws" himself around trying to change position, I think in the hopes that they will stop. He really is so precious to me, and despite my nervousness increasing as the weeks draw to a close, I truly cannot wait to feel him in my arms, but know that I will miss this time with him so much.
The good news is TENTATIVELY speaking... I think we have a name. I'm going to hassle J this weekend to confirm it with me (he says he's unhappy about naming someone he's never met lol), and will let you know, but he's said he can't think of anything else he'd rather call his son... so it seems to be set :)
Have a great weekend all.
