My mood while writing this blog: in awe...

Slevin is just over 2 weeks old now, and is so beautiful. I've never known such love... he's begun cooing at me and talking to himself in his crib... I get the cutest little smiles, and I'm almost 100% positive he giggled in his sleep last night... the most endearing thing is that he has my father's dimples :) :)

He's such a special little man, and absolutely loves human contact - he is very tactile and loves to be held tight against me. His eyes focus now, and we've realised he has two different coloured eyes - the left is brown and the right is the standard baby blue... will be so great to see whether the right one turns brown too, or whether he'll have different eyes for the rest of his life ;)

I've been coping well - recovery has been long and hard - I developed an infection in my episiotomy incision about 4 days post partem, which was awful! I couldn't sit, and eventually popped a stitch so it could drain. They put me on two courses of antibiotics, and I developed a red, itchy rash from my neck to my toes, which they said was the antibiotics, so I stopped them... and the rash is still there - it now looks like a post natal dermatitis, which is not great fun, but it's getting a little better! My incision finally seems to be healing, and my bleeding has stopped, and I should be fine within a week or two, which would be great, because despite being over emotional... the one thing I REALLY can't wait for is the re-establishment of...erm, relations with my husband lol.

We also had our 2 week check up on Tuesday, and he's gained 2pounds in 2 weeks, which the doc says is great weight gain for that period and a definite sign that breastfeeding is working out for us. I've also lost 29 pounds since the birth, only another 66 to go :(

great news! I know what you mean about the relations with husband, hope you heal quick for that lol So glad your all doing well, reading that helped cheer me up as i am very very down at the mo. So i know when this childs born i want to be just like you are feeling.

Glad that everthing is going well!!! Besides the infection. Good to see your little man is gaining weight. Addy is too, she is over 10 lbs now, its great!!!
