07-11-2008 - The name game

My mood while writing this blog:

So I have been calling my son "lil Sal" because we had agreed that he was to be a Jr. Well... I think big Sal may have changed his mind and is afraid to tell me. We were sitting in bed and he was like "So are you 100% with the name? I mean, I just, are you like really happy with it?" We had discussed very early (before we knew it was boy) naming him after Sal's grandfather and father: Raymond Everett Cook III. I just love the name Salvadore sooooo much. I am sure it has a lot to with the fact that I love big Sal so much (I do adore that man!) But the fact that he brought it up and asked lets me know he really is considering naming the baby after his grandfather ( they were very very close and we just lost Grandpa a month before we got pregnant) He is usually very passive and lets me make decisions. This obviously means more to him than I thought. So we have agreed to wait until we lay eyes on our little blessing before we name him. I have the sneaking suspicion I will wind up with a Raymond. There will be no way I can say no to the man I love once he is holding our son. But for now... Its wait and see.

I guess all you can do is sit down with him and tell him how important it is to you that you pick a name that both of you love equally

Hmmmm. well I think both names are very cute...so either way you go the little guy will have a cool name:) I have picked a name but I am not 100 percent sure if it is in "stone" yet. I figure the final decision should be mine since I AM the one who is having the baby...hee hee. ( I am thinking of Cameron James) If I were you I would be leaning towards little Sal--I think that is just so adorable. Let us all know what you guys decide:)

I have a hard time with names too. We decided on a name and now I am not so sure. My husband is passive to the names, except if we were having a boy he was insistant on one name. I have a hard association with names, so I don't want to name my kid something that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. My husband has no such thing. As it stands we are naming our daughter after his first love. It doesn't bother me, since I didn't know her. I haven't really thought of any other names for her that I like better, so I guess we will keep it.
