| 07-6-2009 - To get another bulldog or not to get another bulldog... | My mood while writing this blog:Good |
Okay, so I'm a sucker for animals.... When my husband and I were going to get a dog, we first looked for pure bulldogs. But with all the scams going on and because they are so expensive, we settled for a dog that is 3/4 bulldog and 1/4 boxer. Not EXACTLY what we wanted, but she's a great dog and we love her. There's just kind of a hole left there since she isn't really a full bulldog. So... 2 years later... my charge nurse at work breeds bulldogs! Well, she may be moving and has to find homes for her dogs. She has a female who is 5 years old that she's just going to give away and she thought of me since she knows we want one. And the kicker is that she looks exactly like what we wanted 2 years ago! I'm a little nervous about having another dog. But at the same time, I want her! Now, we have our dog, my 8-year old cat, and 2 birds. So throwing another dog in the mix... will it be too much? Plus with a baby... This new dog is good with babies and maybe can teach my hyper dog a thing or two about being a dog lol. I worry if my dog and she will get along. But my charge nurse said I could bring her back if it didn't work out. And I worry if she will get along with the cat. As far as finances go... it will be double dog food and double vet bills. Plus, having a baby is going to cost for diapers and formula and stuff.... And I'm cutting my hours at work to avoid paying for day care. I think it will work out though. It's just that here's this dog, just like the one we wanted 2 years ago didn't want to pay thousands of dollars for... and she's free.
I know my husband wants her. But he's so much more practical than I am lol. I just don't know. I just don't want to make the wrong choice. Now, she won't be letting her go until around December. So that gives us time to see how our finances will be and get settled in with the new baby. I just keep thinking if I get her and it was a bad decision... then what? But I know if we don't get her I'll always think "wonder what it would have been like." I guess we just need to see how it goes after the baby is born.
