07-7-2009 - Got sent to L&D

My mood while writing this blog: ugh

Yesterday, I was having sharp pains in my right side. Since my dr diagnosed me with preeclampsia, I figured I'd better call. Well, of course my dr is on vacation! The dr on call wanted to see me asap. Which got me worried. So I went in with a pain in my side and she noticed that my bp was up and my reflexes were hypersensitive. She said that my preeclampsia was BAD so she sent to me to the hospital. She came in yesterday evening to see me... Told me that I had all the signs of preeclampsia except for that I'm not spilling protein in my urine. Therefore, she'd diagnose me with gestational hypertension. The pain in my side came from a UTI that seemed to have move up towards my kidneys. Well, I thought she'd let me leave this morning, but she came in to see me and won't let me go. She wants my urine culture to come back to see what bacteria is growing. So looks like I'm stuck here for 10 more hours.

Being in L&D is no fun. They were taking my bp every 2 hours, putting me on the monitors for 20 minutes every 4 hours... and if it wasn't either of those, my IV was beeping. Me and Mike got NO sleep at all lol. But at least today they moved me to the postpardum unit to just monitor me a little. Seems quieter over here.

Oh, and the dr was talking to me about preeclampsia and said if I wasn't better she'd have to induce me. And the induction would go over 2 or 3 days! Can you believe? 2 or 3 days of being induced! Phew! Thank God I'm not as bad as they thought I was. Well, I'm going to try to get some sleep.
