| 07-12-2009 - Remembering my grandpa | My mood while writing this blog:Sad |
First off, my grandpa died last night at 6pm. I had just left the hospital to run and get my half sister who was 25 minutes away. When I got there she told me he had died. Right after I left! I was crushed. I have very fond memories of my grandpa. This happens to be my dad's dad who I met when I was 15. Long story there. Anyway, my grandpa was awesome. He cracked me up everytime I went to see him. He was aslo very talented and built chairs and loveseats out of wood. He ran a flea market on his 1300 acres on land along with running a farm. He taught me the ways of "the country life" and always called me his city girl. He's one of the grandpa's that loved to be outside at anytime possible....taught me how to sled country style...which was sitting on the sled, attaching a ski rope to the back of his 4 wheeler and going through his field. He would always go swimming with all of the grandkids in the pond...would never leave mad...I ALWAYS heard him say "Love you sissy. I'll see you soon." He used to stick his bottom dentures out at me because it would gross me out. He'd sing to me to make me blush. He'd hide in the woods to scare the crap outta me in the pitch black. He'd always ask how my mom was doing even though my mom and dad got divorced 25 years ago. He had the greatest sense of humor and loved everyone of his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He loved taking trips to random places and his very last trip was to Hawaii. I remember this summer when we thought he was going to die, I asked him how his trip to Hawaii was. He said "It was so beautiful. I've always wanted to go there and worked my whole life to earn it. It was worth every penny." So last night as I was driving home after he had died...I asked him how heaven was. I asked him if it was just as beautiful as Hawaii and got increadble goosebumps like never before. I believe that was him saying yes. I miss him so so much already and he just died about 24 hours ago. I know he's not in pain anymore as he had cancer. When they admitted him on Friday night, they ran tests and his cancer had spread into his brain, bones and blood. Last night he woke up for a breif second to tell us all that he was done. Boy, do I miss my grandpa. Here's a picture of him and my nephew Connor. He never offically met Isabella because she had a cold the last time I went to see him. But I know he can see her from heaven now.
