My mood while writing this blog: sad |
Well. as I have been celebrating my enjoyment on having a baby girl... I checked the house voicemail and my doctors midwife called and told me to return her phone call... I knew it wasnt good, as it never really is when the doctor calls after having something done... we play phone tag for a bit but when I got hold of her, she informed me that my little girl has Omphalocele. Ofcourse, I said wtf is that, she said that some of the baby's intestines are still in her umbilical cord. She doesnt know how serious it is yet, so she is sending me to get a level 2 ultrasound. Im waiting to hear when it is. She said if its severe, the baby could end up having surgery when she is born to have her insides basically shoved back into her belly where they are suppose to be.... And I did some research, they said if the case is small, the problem can fix itself so that is what I am hoping for.
I guess I can say Im grateful this is not a life threatening problem, but I dont want her to go through anything already. If anybody knows anything about it, please let me know

Wednesday, 27 Aug Hi. Gosh that is so scary! I havent ever heard of that particular name for it, it sounds as though it is similar to a condition called Gastroschesis (Sp?) Ive seen babies that are born with their intestines on the outside of their abdomen on the Discovery Health TV Network before. They were able to place them back inside safely though. Keep us posted! Best Wishes! Megan -
Wednesday, 27 Aug wow i just looked up that site that nessi posted and i wanted to let you know that my friend's son's condition was NOTHING like that. that's prolly an extreme circumstance. so dont freak! if it were me though i would prolly want to see the worst possible though so i could be prepared, and hopefully whatever happened would be a relief, ya know? Wednesday, 27 Aug ya know im not sure exactly if this is the exact same thing that my friend's son had when he was born but i know he at least had something similar. he's now a healthy kindergartener. you would have no idea that he had surgery just after being born except for a small scar on his belly. all i remember is she said he was born with some of his intestines not inside his belly. so maybe its the same thing or something similar? another bright side... she just had two more babies with no tummy problems. im sure all will be okay. keep your chin up. nessi -
