05-8-2009 - About Me OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

I am a 31 year old teacher, married about a year. This pregnancy was planned, more or less! I'd been charting my cycles for 6 months. We tried in April and did not get pregnant and then decided to skip May because we had a big trip coming up in June and I didn't want to be traveling in the first trimester. But, apparently not trying worked better than trying. I noticed towards the end of May that my temperature count was rising each morning instead of going down, as it normally would heading towards menstruation, so I was clued in a few days before my period that something was amiss. The night before my period was due I couldn't sleep! I got up at 6am, took my temperature, still high, and then a pregnancy test - Postive! My husband and I were both in shock!

So far, it's been a very healthy pregnancy, although I did have some severe cramping on the right side in the beginning, and they did ultrasounds at 5 and 6 weeks for ectopic pregnancy. Everything was fine - just round ligament pain (probably from yoga!). At six weeks they could see the heartbeat on the ultrasound, and at 10 weeks we heard the heartbeat on the doppler. The NT scan at 13 weeks, 3 days also appeared to be normal, just waiting on the blood results.

Although the morning sickness was HORRIBLE while traveling, everything has been much better since being back home. So far it seems like a normal, healthy, pregancy, but I still haven't told many people yet. Maybe by month 4.
