| 05-9-2008 - Emmie stopped breathing | My mood while writing this blog:better |
We were only home two nights before we had to rush back in. Emmie had a fit and stopped breathing just like Lacie did. It was horrible, I had just laid her down so that I could get something to eat and Lacie said that Emmie was poorly, I looked over her loses basket and she was twitching and turning blue. She looks so much like lacie but i didnt thik they were that simular. She came out of the fit eventually and we rushed into hospital, luckily the nurse was near by when it happened again so she got oxygen straight away. The consultant that over looked Lacie was on call that night so Emmie was medicated with the same drugs. Her fits wernt as bad as Lacies but it was just as traumatic, they eventually went down from 10-15 a day to non. You think that i would have handled it better second time around but it was just like reliving a night mare, seeing your baby not breathing is awfull no matter how many times it happens. Emmie was in hospital for a week whilst her meds started to work, and now she is home and there have been no more fits, she will be on her meds for her first year just like her sister.
My husband Jim, took it really hard, he didnt think that he would ever be able to go through it again, but he did really well, he didnt sleep for that week, just stood and watched over her.
We are still a little weary and keep checking her all the time, I hope she will be alright.
