| 27-6-2010 - Birth story to current day with Brayden.. (very long story) | My mood while writing this blog:Happy,Tired, and worried |
On monday June 14th at 1:15 I had a midwife appt.. Not much had changed since the previous week.. I was getting alittle worried about when the whole labor/birth thing was gonna happen because I have never gone to my duedate before. The mifwife said "don't worry hon" You will go into labor on your own I just know it..I was thinking ok whatever lol. She also told me that if he wasnt here by the following week she would schedual my induction..PHEW!!! So I left my appt and came home and around 5:20 I remembered I had a parent teacher meeting..ARGHH I forgot all about it. I left to go to the meeting and felt very uncomfy and could barly even walk..What is going on I thought..So after the meeting I was walking out to the car and now I had the worst time walking..I came home and told hubby I was in alot of pain,he told me to lay down and he would fix dinner..SWEET!!! So now its around 7pm and dinner is almost ready..By 7:10 we sat down to eat and we were doing our usual chatting at the dinner table when I felt and heard a loud pop!! I stood up and began walking to the bathroom and pulled my pants down and without even being able to sit on the toilet water was gushing out..Im thinking OMG only because my water has never broke on it's own before..I yelled for DH that my water just broke and he thought I was messing with his head!! lol He said are you serious?!?! I said yes and I remember being so excited :) So here we are with hot food on the talble and we gotta leave..So while I called L&D dh put all the food away and got the kiddos ready to go to nanas.. The midwife had to call me back as she was busy when I called. She finally called at 7:30 and asked me a few questions and off I went to have my baby:) We get to the hospital around 8:15 and nothing was really happening as far as contractions,so they had me walk around a bit and we watched tv and so on..At 10:30pm the midwife asked me If I wanted to let things happen in their own or if I would like pitocin..I figured seeing how I wasnt having any contractions I would get started on the pitocin..So at 11:30 they came in and hooked me up with the IV and started the pit. OMG that didnt take long to kick in. I had so-so contractions that hurt for about 1 hour and then after 12:30 things took a whole new twist,I was in so much pain I was screaming for and EPI and as luck would have it (NOT) I wasnt able to get one. At 1:30 I began to panic I was almost in tears and at 1:51 I yelled "he's coming" and I layed on the bed and with with 3 contractions and 4 mins of pushing he was born at 1:55am weighing 7lbs 2oz and 19 3/4 long. After he was born and put on top of me I began to hemmorage badly and everyone was scared and running around and of course I was flipping out...After medical intervention they were able to get everything under controll and after I was put in my room I had to take a pill every 4 hours for the bleeding. All and all everything worked out. Oh and I forgot to mention that Brayden was born on his duedate!!! I was so excited :) We left the hospital on Wed thank goodness!! I was adviced to bring Brayden in to see his ped on friday for a weight check..Which is common here. On friday I bought him in and he was weighed and he was back to his birth weight..He was 6lbs 14oz when he was discharged. Now heres the bad news according to the blood work that is done at birth they found that Brayden may have been born without a thyroid,we are unsure at this point further testing needs to be preformed. But his doc seems to think he wasnt born with one because of the scoring on the blood test. He told me if it wasnt caught in time he would have developed mental retardation..I said OMG are you frigging kidding me?!?! He said no,so for right now he will need to take a pill everyday (we need to crush it up and mix it with formula and giving to him by syringe. And if he was infact born without a thyroid he will need to take that pill everyday for his entire life :( He will need to see a specialist in the near future but for right now he has his 2 week follow up in tues and they will do another blood draw to just and see if he does have a thyroid (they are hoping he has one and it just isnt working properly) which can be fixed I believe. And with that blood draw they will also check to make sure he is getitng the right dose of the med and if not they will need to readjust the dosage..Phew so sorry for they long blog,it's been interesting around here. The good news is,is that this little man is amazing..He sleeps through the night and wakes up around 5am to eat and then hes back to sleep :) I will keep everyone posted on Braydens condition. Thanks for reading and again sorry for the novel
