| 27-1-2009 - 19 weeks consultant appointment | My mood while writing this blog:relaxed and happy |
Today i had my first consultant appointment of many as i am deemed a high risk pregnancy, due to my past history of miscarriages, difficult pregnancies and problematic labours/births.
Much to my delight the old fart of a consultant i had with my other children, who was very stuffy ,clinical and occassionally rude to the point of insulting decided to retire and in his place their is now a much younger, more friendly and delightfully helpful man who takes all my little niggles and worries seriously but with a wonderful light humour...much more up my street!!
Anyway , so far everything seems to be progressing well. Hes very happy that im not having too many braxton hicks so early onlike i did last time round and hes very positive about another VBAC this time like i did last time round.Last time they tried to scaremonger me out of it but he showed delight in my stubborness of not having a c section unless it was totally necessary and presented me with the facts and stats of VBAC which shows that theres really no reason why i personally shouldnt attempt it! So i am happy that i will be advised rather that challenged about my decision on natural childbirth.
He did say that given my past history he would like to continue to see me monthly until 30 weeks then fortnightly there after and hes insisted on having extra scans throughout the remainder of my pregnancy, which im ESTATIC about :) This is too keep a good eye on both my placenta after a previous pregnancy placental abruption and also to keep an eye on the size of the baby and of course the general well being of baby as ive had so many miscarriages etc.Im very pleased as lets face it, we all love seeing our baby as often as we can get!! :)
All in all im thrilled with my care today! :) And im really looking forward to,with some nerves admittedly, to my ultrasound on the 5th Feb when i hope to discover that baby is both as healthy as can be seen at this stage and also a peek at its bits as i cant wait to start shopping for this baby with my other children!! They want to help choose things and i think its another ideal way to involve them in the pregnancy.
Hope everyone else is feeling as happy and lucky as me xxxxxx
