14-4-2009 - Eye Check up OKMy mood while writing this blog:
OK

Hi Everyone!

Michael had an eye check-up today. The patching is working, and he is using both eyes well. But, still has some turning in. The doctor explained all about the surgery to us, and answered all of our questions. He said eye surgery is actually a lot simpler than most other surgeries. They are going to cut the eye muscles and reattach them to adjust their tension. Gross!

He said 25% of kids who have this surgery need a second surgery to fine tune, and his eyes may drift later in life and have to be fixed again. But chances are good that one surgery will be enough, so please say prayers for him!

His surgery will be May 27th. In the meantime, we have to patch BOTH eyes...switching every day to make sure they both keep working well until then. I had to mark our fridge calendar so we don't get messed up!

He'll be on my prayers. I hope he only needs the one surgery.

Crossing my fingers that he will only need one surgery. He is a tough little guy, so I have a really good feeling about this...nothing can get Michael down.

Poor Michael! hopefully he'll be good with just the one surgery! I can't believe you can keep an eye patch on the boy! Bekah won't even keep a hat on! and she's figured out how to pull her hair clips out of her hair! I don't think I could keep an eye patch on her if I had to! Good luck with it all and I'll keep Michael in my prayers!

Poor little guy. My little man would be furious if he had to wear one of those. Hopefully one surgery will be enough for him.

I will say some prayers. Oh, and guess what? My hubby had this done when he was a baby and all is fine today. The fact of even touching an eyeball grosses me out....I'm a whimp when it comes to them. LOL
