14-4-2009 - 2nd Ultrasound

My mood while writing this blog: In Awe

So I had my second ultrasound yesterday... It was incredible.

I had to go in without Shannon at first, and you know how they dont let you see the screen until they finish their measurements... I was nervous because I had a friend who went for their ultrasound and they realized the baby had already died...

After a few silent minutes she gets a smile on her face and says "it wont hold still"

I was so excited. I had eaten some rockets before i went in because i really wanted the baby to be active, and he/she sure was!!

Shannon came in she showed us our baby and sure enough she/he was wiggling around and summer saulting all over the place. It was such a strange and exciting feeling to know that that was going on inside me and i had no clue!

Unfortunately they didnt have audio, so we stil havent been able to hear the heartbeat, but I know we will hear it at the next appointment.

Baby was measuring at 11w 6d, so a few days younger than we thought. The size was 65.4mm.

She wouldnt tell us the heartbeat, but it was pretty obvious that baby was doing well.

It was great to finally get some reassurance again that baby was actually in there! it had been 6 weeks since anyone had actually paid any attention to it at all!

I am definately starting to show now, its weird because i look pretty normal in the morning, and then by the evening i am really big! My Mom swore i was having twins, but the ultrasound showed only 1!

The entire family knows now, and everyone is really happy. I was finally able to announce it on facebook, and have been getting a ton of positive feedback.

Seeing the baby made this all so real!
