Well its been a loooong journey and i have been a paranoid pregnant woman but i am elated to say that our little girl Norah Faye was born at 3:47 pm on May 12 2011. She was 8 poiunds 5 1/2 ounces and had a head circ of 35 cm.
after a very sick pregnancy with lots of scans and checks on my cervix I am overjoyed to have carried to full term! and even more so that Norah is healthy and happy dispite all the 'complications'!
our labour was not what we had planned, owing to there being merconium in the amniotic fluid. so we did not get our water birth, though we did dilate super rapidly .. arrived at the hospital at 7-8 cms dilated and then my silly cervix became inflamed and wouldnt progress past 9. grr...
they told me to top trying to push,... do you have any idea how hard that is!! and my body was doing it on its own! i had no control.. so they gave me an epidural and i was able to stop the pushing... i got some rest and then they induced my contractions gradually to try to get my cervix to open... and it did, and i was able to feel when my body contracted and push hr out without intervention....
though i did tear,. youch! but you know even though my bits look like scary meat monsters and im sore and tired and in pain....Norah, my beautiful healthy little girl is worth it!!
oh and just to make my day complete, when we arrived home with her, I went out onto the balcony for some fresh air, and the rose bush we planted for our sleeping baby Jonathan was in bloom, 10 beautiful fully opened sweet smelling roses. a beautiful gift from her brother.
