Welcome to story time!
The AF Fairy
A long long time ago, a young girl sat in the arms of her mother. She was a quizzical child and was indeed at that moment in a quizzical mood. "Mummy, when will I be a grown up?" she asked
Her mother, a wise woman hugged her daughter close and told her "You will know that you are a grown up when the AF fairy visits"
"Oh" said the girl "Is she like the Toothfairy?"
"In a way" smiled the mom
"Will she leave something under my pillow?"
The mother thought for a moment and then softly explained to her daughter "The AF Fairy will leave something within you, she will firstly, make it possible for you to bear children. And secondly, each month she will leave you a sign that will let you know if you are".
The girl became very concerned "How will I get it out of me?"
Smiling, the mother replied "If you are not pregnant it will come out of you on its own".
Furrowing her brow, the girl took a moment to imagine this "Will it be money? Will it hurt?"
Laughing the mother exclaimed "No! It will not be money! And yes sometimes it can hurt".
"Why? Why does the Fairy want to hurt me?" the girl asked, twisting her mothers necklace between her tiny fingers.
"The AF Fairy doesn't want to hurt you, but she needs to make sure that on the months that you are pregnant you know it. She makes your body ache and it changes to accommodate the baby, your tummy gets bigger and you feel more emotional, this makes sure that while you carry a child in your belly you know to take extra special care of yourself. On the months that you are not carrying a child, she reminds you firstly how much you will want a child. And secondly, prepares you by showing you some of the pain you will bear when you are pregnant. This makes you a stronger woman"
"And a Stronger grown up!" exclaimed the child.
They were silent for a time, the mother full of fond memories of her own pregnancy and the daughter filled with a thousand more questions.
After a few moments the daughter placed her hand on her own tummy and whispered "AF Fairy?...If you can hear me. I'd rather have the money!"
The End
