| 14-10-2008 - Went to Church | My mood while writing this blog:peaceful |
Hi my lovely friends!!! I went today with a co-worker/friend of mine to a church her priest has recommended her to go to... St Lucy's in Newark, NJ. Well just sitting here typing to you I have the goosebumps! We went to get blessed and received the Handkerchief of St. Gerard ( I know some of you may not be very religious... I am... WAS one of them!... but please continue to read this...) the Pastor then told us a story of a woman (a nurse) that went to visit the nurse at their school. She ended up telling them that she was 48 years old and never could conceive and would like the sisters to pray with her because she was Jewish, but had the faith and belief that St. Gerard could help her in her time of need. The Pastor also spoke with her and then proceded to tell us 6 months later she was struggling down the hall to thank him because she was pregnant with not one baby... but TRIPLETS!!! She goes every year to pray to St. Gerard and thank him. She is not the only one that has had her prayers answered so many women have been truly blessed there!
This church is actually a National Shrine of St. Gerard and this week is actually the 109th Annual Feast of St. Gerard Maiella... his birthday is October 16th ... same day as my mothers! =)
Sorry for going on and on here... but I don't know how to explain it... I felt so at peace there... I wasn't angry or mad or frustrated! I was overwhelmed by it's beauty and just wanted to cry my eyes out. It doesn't matter what religion you may be... I'm not Catholic I'm probably one of the least religious people here on this site, but in all honesty I felt like I belonged there... I didn't want to leave! =)
I lit three candles... of course the first one was for St. Gerard and I prayed not only for his guidance for me to conceive and deliver a healthy baby, but I prayed for ALL of you here and for the many more I will meet! I truly hope that all of our prayers will be answered! It may not be this month or the next, but it will happen... reach for it... believe in miracles and we will all be blessed.
I hope I didn't overload some of you here! Again it's not only for those that are Catholic... even if you may think that this is a bunch of nonsense...I respect your opinion... I just feel so positive about today that I will be visiting there again on the 16th and bring my family with me! It was such an amazing experience!
Talk to you all soon! xoxo
