My mood while writing this blog: relieved |
We had a bit of a surprise doctor visit today. We just got home a
little while ago after having mild
contractions for the last 24 hours...I realize it's totally normal to have
braxton hick contractions, but i was having way too many and nothing i
was doing was stopping them...so this
afternoon they decided it was time to check it out just to make sure
she wasn't planning on an early arrival. The news was pretty decent,
what they were concerned was happening was not (my cervix shortening and/or thinning), but labor progress has
begun already which is a tad early. She is headfirst and ready to
come, already dropped way down (something my son didn't do until the
11th hour...12 days overdue), but so far so
good. I don't think we'll have an overdue baby this time around, we
just hope she stays put until we are at least 37 weeks (I'm 28 weeks
right now). So I'm definitely on reduced activity and instructed to
take it easy and drink lots of water since dehydration can cause
pre-term labor. After checking me, they wanted to do an ultrasound to
check for other signs of labor progress...which they found minimal
evidence, but not enough to be too concerned yet. We actually got to watch
one of the contractions on the ultrasound and watch Claire push
back...clearly she was not pleased at being squeezed. It was nice to
see her via ultrasound again since we didn't think we'd see her until
she was born. She looks an awful lot like Brenden did, the ultrasound
tech thinks they are going to look the same which would be fine with
me! I have another doctor appt tomorrow, my regular scheduled
visit...and unless anything changes they will continue to see me every
2 weeks through July and August, than weekly in September. I'm still
having contractions, so i'm to keep a close eye on it and go in if I
get concerned or if there are too many on any given day. Oh the joys
of pregnancy!
