31-7-2009 - my little girl is measuring small

I went into the doctor on Tuesday and learned that my little peanut really is a little peanut...she is measuring 2 weeks behind, and I lost weight these past 2 weeks. Now I'm starting to be paranoid since everyone keeps commenting that I look way too small to be starting my 8th month. Someone actually asked me if I was still in my first trimester a couple of weeks ago. My doctor isn't getting too concerned yet, but she did schedule me for a growth scan in 4 weeks now to make sure her growth still looks ok. Has anyone else gone through this? With my son, I didn't gain much weight, about 20 pounds, but it was consistently going up, this time I've only gained about 13 pounds so far, but i also still have 9 weeks to go. My son was always measuring right on track and was 8 1/2 pounds when he was born. As we get closer and closer I get more and more scared that something is going to happen to her and that somehow I've done something differently with this pregnancy that is making her weaker. I was having a hard time tolerating the prenatal vitamins, so I've been on adult vitamins with folic acid supplements, baby asprin for the first 20 weeks, and now an iron supplement...should I be doing anything differently? The extreme heatwave we've been going through and my busted AC unit is not helping matters!!!

My little girl was always measuring two weeks behind, she was born small @ 6lbs 5oz but was completely healthy! I only gained 19 pounds with her.. about the same as a gained with my son. Some babies are just smaller than others I think try not to worry too much. Hope all goes well for you... take care.

just keep drinking a tonne of water to keep you hydrated. even if you don't eat, make sure you drink lots. i'm sure she'll have a growth spurt and catch up.

They all measure differently closer to the end. Did they see her small growth on an ultrasound or from measuring your belly? Try not to worry too much. You are doing everything you are supposed to be doing!

I am sure everything is ok..and ya loosing weight and measuring small is worrysome but you ahve no ac and it has been HELL!! with the heat here I know i havent been in the best mood to really eat. so maybe that has some todo with it all..I know that beds rest sucks!! sending good vibes your way keep me posted ok!
