13-6-2008 - Welcome, Norah Marie aweMy mood while writing this blog:
awe

Well, she didn`t wait for the u/s! My water broke on June 4th at 2:45 in the morning. I woke up and thought I was peeing the bed, so I got up and gush, g-gush! John asked what was wrong, and I just giggled and said, `I think my water broke!` We took showers, finished packing my bag and gathered everything for the hospital. On our way, I kept shaking my head, thinking `We`re not ready, yet!` Everyone lately had said to prepare to go late with this being my first baby...When we got to thehospital, I was dialated to 1cm. After a few hours, my doctor came in, but he couldn`t check me because my cervix was posterior (facing down). He recommended that I start on Pitossin. After 6 hours, I couldn`t take it anymore and decided to get an epidural....I had made it to 3 cm. Then she went into distress. They shut off the Pit immediately and waited to see what she was going to do. After her heartbeat regulated again, they started the Pitossin again because my contractions had gone from 1 min. apart to 5-6 min. apart. They kept a close watch and found that her little heartbeat went down with each contraction, so they recommended a c-section. After being in labor for over 16 hours at this point, John and I agreed that it was the best thing to do. It went very well...but they did find that the cord had been around her neck. I have faith that God was with us the entire time and that if my water had not broke, that if the cord had been around her neck, that they would have seen it at the u/s and provided the same amount of careful watch over Norah and me. She weighed in at 7lbs., 6 oz. and was 19 and 3/4 in. long. She is the biggest blessing I have ever known. Thank you to all of my family and friends for their love, prayers, and support.
