11-3-2009 - Induction date!!!!

My mood while writing this blog:
Excited/nervous

Hi lovely ladies,
I jjust got back from my hospital appointment and my bp is still quite high, he gave me an internal and said my cervix is short and soft but still closed. He said I am a great candidate for induction so booked me for wed the 18th march. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! he tried to get me booked in for mon the 16th or tues the 17th (st patricks day...how cool) but they were fully booked for inductions and c-sections.....ah well, I dont mind what day it is once our lil princess gets here healthy and strong and happy.
I am also in the pre-eclampsia day care clinic on Friday and if my bp is still up they will take me in then....so little Ava may be here sooner than wed.....woohoootrero.
After the internal I am quite crampy and bleeding a little, which he told me is quite normal and he also said internals at this stage in pregnancy can start labour off....sooo ye never know....I could go myself before the weekend....even better.
I am sooooooooooooooo nervous about being induced, have heard so manhy horror stories about it making labour much longer and more painfull and intense. Any of you lovely ladies have any idea how much truth is in that?

Good luck with the induction, it's great news that you have a date, but ya never know ya might go yourself- just go for walks, walks n more walks.

Wow thats fantastic news about your induction date. I'm going in for my next appointment today at 5pm to find out if i'm 'ripening' up in the cervix department. If i am, then i could be admitted on Saturday to have little J.J!! I'm sooo ready for it to happen now. My ankles have swelled and i'm finding it sore to walk around now. Stu's getting used to me asking him to rub my feet every night. Will post a blog tomorrow after i know whats happening. I too would be happy for a 17th March induction - although it would mean that i would always have to be doing a kiddy birthday party in the future rather than being in the pub on St Paddy's day!! Haha...i'm such a bad mother to think like that :-) xx

I went into the hospital on the 4th to be induced and had my baby the following morning. It wasn't that bad for me. They kept upping the dosage level on my pitocin throughout the night and I didn't feel contractions until about 2:30 in the morning. I got my epidural by 3:30am. I think they went ahead and gave it to me early bc of my high blood pressure. (I think the highest it got was like 180/100) I had to get the doctor to come in and up the dosage on my epidural 2x and by 9am my contractions were killing me. I had her at 10:46am. You should read my birth story....I go into more detail. And it was all induced so you might get an idea of what you are getting into. I'm so happy for you that you have your date set. That's awesome! I'm so surprised I wasn't nervous at all. I really don't know why, I guess I didn't have time to be nervous. Maybe you will go before then.....GOOD LUCK!!!

With my daughter I was induced. She put me in the hospital Jan 18th that evening around 5 or 6pm she came in and checked me and stuff. She started the pit drip that night...well it was a little after midnight around 12:30am the 19th and I had contractions but they wasn't real normal so 6:30am she broke my water cause it wouldn't break on it's own and at 8:24am I had my daughter. I didn't have to push that many times.

Hey hon, I don't know if you saw my last blog or not but I'm in the same boat as you!!! Pretty crazy! I'll be praying for you! Neither one of us need those long labors! My cervix was closed too and my doctor said if after I've been in labor for 20+ hours and I still haven't dilated enough, then they will have to do a c-section. So... I'm freaking out! lol. Hang in there and keep us posted!!!

How exciting to have a final date!! But as you said, it may be your lil princess makes an appearance before then eh!

Don't you worry about inductions... i've heard good as well as bad but then have heard that about all births.. so it's each to their own but I just know your gonna be fine!
