09-3-2010 - Controled Crying?? WorriedMy mood while writing this blog:
Worried

Hi gorgeous mommas, Hope you and you lil ones are doing great wether they are already here or still all cosy in your tummy.
I have a bit of a problem I am hoping to get some advice on....
We did the controlled crying thing with Ava a while back and it worked really well, it took over a week but she finally grasped it. However she was ill a few weeks ago with a bad cold and projectile vomiting so she was out of her routine a bit due to her cot being covered in puke and wet through and then her ending up sleeping with us. And also she has been teething these past weeks which doesnt help, so now we are back to sitting in the room with her while she goes to sleep. I keep saying I will try controlled crying 2night and then when 2night comes I chicken out, I dunno whats wrong with me but I just cant bare to listen to her scream for 2 hours........ I am getting so stressed over the prospect of her being in so much distress.
HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!! I need some advice from you gorgeous ladies and how you dealt with it. Ava will be 1 in 11 days and I would love to have her be able to go down for naps and sleeps by herslef asap.
Thanks in advance for any advice or experiences you can share with me.
Luv ya all LOTS.
Tina xx

Wish I could help dear but we've been quite lucky with Adalynn. Most nights it's only a few min if at all. When we're not at home it's much more challenging, which I assume is because of the things that are not there (night light, music box, a few small cuddle toys). I have heard that a fan, radio static or hymidifier can help by providing some white noise. Good luck!

We had this prob with Raegan and still haven't tackled it exactly. And it started with her being sick too. She has always fallen asleep by being rocked. I have never been able to lay her down and have her go right to sleep. But, she went through this awful phase where even after falling asleep in out arms, she would scream as soon as she was put in her crib. We tried the CIO method and it didn't seem to work. We still have to rock her to sleep. I'm wondering how old is too old for that? Hmm....sounds like a good poll question. I guess I wasn't much help, seeing as how I gave in to temptation and still rock baby girl to sleep....but I don't have to listen to her scream at least. I'm not sure what to do myself. I just wanted you to know, you're not alone :)

Hiya! I know what you mean! We keep having to revisit the controlled crying issue for some reason or another (like you said colds and whatnot) and it feels like just when we get it all down we're starting over again! The way we approach controlled crying is that we lay her down with her normal night routine (the glowing /musical seahorse activated next to her) and we leave. We let her go for no longer than 15 minutes of crying before we go back in, lay her down, tuck her in again, (reactivate the noisemaker if needed) but we try to keep it strictly business. Like not picking her up cuddling her and talking a lot to her or playing or anything. Just lay her down, tuck her in and leave. She eventually gives up/goes to bed understanding that fun time is over and that we aren't going to play or anything. We leave it at every 15 minutes before we go back in. :0) Hope it helps!!
