10-7-2008 - gestational diabetes and PCOS OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

Well I went to my edoncrinologist today. He isnt happy with my glucose results. I am on metformin 500 mg 2x a day. I asked him if I can be taken off it now that I am over my first trimester. He really didnt have an answer. He said if I go off it I will likely become a GD. If I stay on it no one knows the affects it could have on my baby. He said that I need to change my diet and randomly check my sugars during the day. He said maybe I should go with what my OB says. I am totally confused on what to do. .I am leaning toward going off the pill and just changing my diet and check my sugars. I see my OB in 2 weeks I will see what they say.

I didn't change my diet completely I just cut back on the carbs, added more meat and milk...carbs is what really spikes your sugar so I say you ask your doctor to try that. I do take insulin but it is only 8mg twice a day and it has helped with my fasting sugars which is the time from when I sleep to wake up my first blood sugar reading is a little high but not bad just high and the insulin has helped regulate that. But the diet change helped alot especially taking the sugar out and working out I have worked out more as well...drink alot of water. I would ask to try it if I were you.
