25-7-2008 - 20 week ultrasound found abnormality

My mood while writing this blog:

Well....My ultasound seemed to go good. The baby was there and moving good heart beat was good...151. She measured everything and everthing was right on with 20 weeks. I am 20 weeks 5 days. The baby was in a corner and was scrunched up she said she thought she saw what the baby's sex is but wasnt sure and went on with other scans to come back again to try and see. Well the baby wasnt cooperating. She did say she thinks she saw boy parts. Well anyway I went to my OB appt right after and he came in and said they found an abnormality on the baby's stomach. He said there is a hole in the baby's stomach and the intestines are coming out. He hit us with this like a mack truck. I have to go see the high risk doctor on monday so he can do another higher ultrasound to see what is what. The DR said they want to see what caused this.. weather it is just blood vessels that didnt fuse together right or if its chromasomal such as downs syndrom. So if so they will have to do an amniocentesis. We will have a list of questions to ask and will no more on monday. We were pretty bad yesterday But we are looking at the positive side that it can be easily fixed with surgery after the baby is born. I am hoping this Dr monday can confirm the sex too. I will keep you posted

just wanting to let u know my boy lennon was born with this and he is just like any other one year old boy i know exactly wat ur going through stay strong and if u need anything or want to ask me anything please do

I'm sorry to hear about your baby, I was going to let you know I saw an episode on TV (can't remember if it was Baby Story or another one) but same situation and after the baby was born they had the intestines drop in naturally by gravity and within 3-4 days they closed the hole and all was fine. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
