About Your Pregnancy
Is this your first pregnancy?:
Second
When did you find out you were pregnant?:
February 9, 2009
Was it planned?:
Yes, we were surprised it happened as quickly as it did, we weren't expecting to get pregnant for another three-four months.
What was your first reaction?:
I knew I was pregnant but still shocked to see two lines
Who was with you when you found out?:
Me, Myself and I
Who was the first person you told?:
My wonderful son who was 16 months at the time
My husband saw the test wrapper in the trash and asked what the result was, he's thrilled but like me also cautious. I never told DH I thought I might be pregnant, Saturday night he and I were playing around and he groped my BB’s (sorry for the TMI) and said I’ve got to be pregnant because they fill fuller…but they didn't hurt what so ever, other then a minor twitch.
How did your parents react?:
Both our parents are thrilled for a new addition to the family.
How far along are you?:
11 weeks and 3 days
What was your first symptom?:
being more tired then usual, increase in CM and slight mild cramping. The first thing that made me question if I could be pregnant was I started getting REALLY WEIRD CRAZY dreams, I ate a peanut butter cup, and thought I was going to throw it up (I couldn’t stand chocolate while pregnant with my son), I had also been really thirsty and if I put my hand over the general area of my uterus, it felt firm.
What is your due date?:
October 22, 2009
Do you know the sex of the baby?:
Not for approximately another 9 weeks
If so, what is it?:
Girl or Boy
Have you picked out names?:
Girl- First Name: Hanna Middle Name: Cynthia or Cecillia (Cynthia is in honor of my husband’s late mother and Cecillia is in honor of my husbands’ maternal grandfather [Cecil] and the name his mom picked out if she would have had a girl)
Boy- Undecided (my husband won’t discuss boy names since he claims we’re having a girl) I like Daniel though.
How much weight have you gained?:
My last prenatal appointment at 8 weeks I had gained 2 lbs
Do you have stretch marks?:
Not from this pregnancy
Have you felt the baby move?:
Not yet, but I’m eagerly awaiting
Have you heard the heartbeat?:
Yes, via ultrasound
What`s been the hardest thing about being pregnant so far?:
I bleed, passed clots and my hCG level wasn’t rising early on so that in itself was stressful start to this pregnancy.. I quickly learned the second pregnancy is A LOT harder then the first, I assumed I would have another easy pregnancy, everyone told me the second one is harder but just thought “sure, whatever”. Chasing after a toddler in itself is an undertaking while pregnant, but that’s not even the worst part, I’m nauseas and I love the times when I can be fine but all the sudden we’re out in public and it hits me. This pregnancy I’m not sleepy tired but my body is physically tired and sore, by the time John gets home from work I just want to plop down on the sofa and only move when it’s time to go to bed. The midwife said my back pain should lessen as the baby grows and my uterus tilts forward since I have a tilted uterus the extra pressure/weight is currently pushing on my back, I sure hope she’s right. I’ve also noticed my waist line grew a lot faster this time around; I’ve already started wearing my preggo pants even though they’re a little big yet. It wasn’t a hard decision as this pregnancy progresses that I don’t want any more children; at least not naturally, I’m so thankful John on his own volunteered for a vasectomy with the understanding that if I have to have a c-section then I get my tubes tied.
What`s been the best thing about being pregnant so far?:
When my husband rubs my belly and talks to the baby.
About the birth
Will you keep the baby
Of coure, I’m to greedy to go through this much misery for someone else ;0)
Home or hospital birth?:
Birthing center, it's a satelite campus of the hospital
Natural or medicated birth?:
All Natural!!! I can’t tell you how thrilled I was my son’s natural child birth, I was able to experience everything, knew when to push without help, push longer with all my strength (I think the reason I only had to push for half an hour) and it was the all time natural high and within an hour of giving birth I was SLOWLY walking around and able to partake in his firsts (checkup, bath, etc) in the nursery. The key to a natural child birth is not letting yourself believe there is any other option and waiting until the very last possible minute to go to the hospital, but most importantly…KEEP MOVING to allow the baby to drop down faster. To be totally honest it’s NOT easy or painless, I had ALL back labor which is suppose to the most painful type of labor according to our birthing class and books.
Who will be in the delivery room with you?:
Husband, midwife and her assist(s)
Will you breastfeed?:
Breastfeed and supplement with formula when need be since I’m unable to pump (I can pump for an hour and get only about an ounce of milk)
Do you think you'll need a c-section?:
I sure hope not
Do you think you`ll cry when you hold the baby for the first time?:
Teary eyed, I didn’t really cry with my son, I was completely over joyed and kept repeating he’s perfect and beautiful.
Would you let someone videotape the birth?:
We’ll video tape the birth, we set the camera up off to the side of the room. A lot of women are against this but it’s actually enjoyable to watch it when you’re ready too. We waited almost a year before watching the tape, fast forwarded through a lot of the pushing, it’s brought tears to my eyes to be able to see the delivery of my son and my reaction to holding him for the first time. The day itself is a blur and watching the video filled in a few questions I had, example: how I reacted to meeting little man for the first time.
Are you excited about the birth, or scared?:
Excited, not as nervous this time since I know what to expect
Do you think you’ll have more children after this?:
NO, this is it!
