| 16-4-2009 - Week 13 | My mood while writing this blog:Enjoying the warmer weather |
I had another pre-natal appointment yesterday, so far everything is going well, my blood pressure is good and I’ve only gained one pound thus far :0). I’m hoping my weight gain is the same with this pregnancy as it was with my son, I was one of the “fictional” women you read about that could leave the hospital in her pre-pregnancy jeans ( NO LIE), if it happens again I’ll feel truly blessed! Baby #2 was extremely active, the midwife was able to get the heartbeat for a brief second (154 BPM); the midwife said it sounds like a boy which brought a disappointed look to DH’s face. On our way home from the appointment I commented that it might be time to discuss boy names to which he replied “I won’t be devastated if it’s another boy but I’m still hoping for daddy’s little girl and until the anatomy ultrasound confirms a boy lets hold off on boy name picking”. For the most part my all day sickness has subsided, I’m still vomiting about once a week, and I’ll take that over everyday! The back pain is still present, my midwife gave DH instructions on how to massage the area that is causing the most problems and some suggestion for me on how to reduce the pain, and she said if it doesn’t improve she’ll refer me to a physical therapist. My next appointment is on May 13th. I can’t begin to tell you how happy I was to hear my little peach (the size of the baby this week), after hearing about a fellow TTC’er I was in the forum with that had a miss miscarriage, the thought was always present in my mind the same thing could happen to my little one, especially since the bleeding and clots were never fully explained.
Unfortunately the midwife that delivered my son retired in January 2008, since I go to a larger practice I have a handful of women to choose from and there is one in particular that I WILL NEVER SEE AGAIN but that’s a whole other story but I told my husband if I’d be in labor and she’s on duty I’d rather go back home and he deliver the baby. I’ve decided to schedule my monthly visits with a midwife that I liked while I was pregnant with my son, when I start going every other week I’ll begin “shopping around” since there is no guarantee she’ll be on duty when I go into labor. Yesterday my normal midwife was unavailable and I saw a new one. I really liked the midwife I meet with yesterday, I instantly connected with her, she was very helpful in answering my question, let my son play with her Doppler and she has five children of her own so I know when it comes time for delivery she won’t send in the cheering squad. I refer to the nurses that assist the midwife during labor and deliver as the cheering squad since they repeat over and over and over again “you’re doing great”, “you’re almost there” “you’re such a strong amazing women”, blah blah blah. I’m in freaking labor, I’m pushing a watermelon out, the last thing I wanted was my own personal cheer leaders not to mention I chose the mirror to keep me motivated when I felt frustrated so I could clearly see what was going on…THANKS
That’s my update on baby number #2 and myself! I must admit, this pregnancy is flying by, I think a lot of that has to do with my DS keeping me occupied. Woohoo, in approximately seven weeks I'll know my little one's gender!!!!
Before signing off, I’d like to leave a special request that everyone keeps Allboys!! In your thoughts and prayers during her difficult time, she found out yesterday that her little girl has Triploidy. She and I conceived around the same time and were both hoping for little girls, needless to say my heart broke and I cried when I read her blog.
