20-8-2009 - 31 Week Update

Just a quick update on Hayden from yesterday’s prenatal appointment, I was told my blood pressure continues to be excellent, I’ve gained 16.25 lbs thus far with this pregnancy, I passed my glucose test (woohoo, I don’t have gestational diabetes), the blood test for anemia came back negative and Hayden’s heart rate was 140 BPM. The midwife said Hayden is currently breech which means if he doesn’t turn before 39 weeks I’ll have to have a c-section, she said babies usually will continue to rotate into the head down position until 34 weeks and after that the chance of rotation decreases with each passing week. Of course that caused concern because I DON’T want a c-section for countless reasons, I looked back at the pregnancy journal I kept with Benjamin and he rotated at 33 weeks which helped relieve my concern and I had a nice little heart to heart conversation with Hayden informing him he better get busy and start getting his head down before my next appointment in two weeks or else his mommy isn’t going to be happy with him. Hayden is also measuring almost two weeks behind; the midwife said it isn’t a concern until the baby measures three weeks behind, John joked that Benjamin always measured a week or two head so all that means is Hayden is going to be the runt of the litter. My back pain has returned in the last couple of days, I’m hoping that’s a sign that Hayden is beginning to make his decent to head down birthing position, I’ll be paying close attention the next few days to see if his kicking pattern/location changes, however the back pain could be due to the 3 1/4 lbs pounds that I gained in 9 days…YIKES!!!!

Michelle, 31 weeks already!!! I cant believe it. Seriously time flies! My SIL had a breech with y nephew, and they said they were going to do that thing where they turn the baby manually, which is very painful apparently...but he ended up turning at the last minute..so dont worry everything will be fine..and they can turn after 34 weeks. Im so excited for u :)!!!!

Turn Hayden, turn!! I can't wait to see your birth story!! I feel especially excited about you and Owensbaby2 having your wee ones, as you both got your BFP around the time I really started hanging around the TTC forum. I feel like I've spied on the whole journey! ;)
