My mood while writing this blog: tired |
Hello Ladies =o)
I went to the Drs yesterday-- thinking it was going to be more than it actually way- Kind of annoying actually. When i was pregnant with Charlie, my first visit was filling out paperwork-talking to a nurse, going over the next 9 months.. it was fun! This visit... i waited for what seemed like forever in the waiting room, then waited another eternity in the exam room... and all they did was confirm my pregnancy!!! HELLO.. i already knew i was pregnant. At my Drs office-- theres a total of 5 doctors- you see each of them over the course of your pregnancy- so youre familiar with all the drs so you at least know all of them at the time of delivery-- depending who is on call. Which im fine with- but the dr i had yesterday, i cant stand. i know he means well.. but everything he says is just so cold. The first thing he said to me when he came into the room was " oh... was this planned" because i had brought my son with me... and he looked at me like i was crazy. he gave this smug little laugh and told me i was going to have my hands full... who is he to tell me how its going to be like.. and THEN he says " so i suppose youre keeping this pregnancy"
UMMM YEAHHHHHHHHHHH. i dont know- i dont know if i was hearing his tone the way i wanted to hear it because i dont like him.. or if he was sincerely asking me if i was going along with the pregnancy.
After he finally gave me a "congratulations"... i was sent on my way. i think i might hate him!! all the other drs in the office- i LOVE.. they are the nicest people ive ever met!! but him... he just rubs me the wrong way. they scheduled me to come back for that "paperwork" visit i had last time.. in another 2 weeks.. feb 17th.. and i dont even go back for my first ultrasound until march 17th!!!!!! i asked the receptionist why it was so far away.. i'll be 12.5 weeks pregnant. and she said they dont schedule them any earlier unless your pregnancy needs to be closly monitered.. Im a little upset i cant see my baby and know everything is ok.... ! with charlie they took me in at 10 weeks- but i really only ended up being 9 weeks.... i want so bad to just know now.. i dont know if i can wait another 7 weeks until i get to see the baby.
Just wanted to know... when all of you have your first U/S... does anyone else have to wait as long as i do!?!?!!! its not that long, i know... but im very very impatient! =o)
hope everyone is having a great pregnancy so far!!!!!!!

Friday, 6 Feb Oh, I'm right there with you on all of this. I've already lost 2 babies, one just a few months ago...and this time they aren't going to do my first US until March 23rd. And that is only because I decided to pay out of pocket for the extra testing which is blood work and the ultrasound. Without that they wouldn't have done my first ultrasound until 20 weeks. I'm about to lose my mind...I'm considered high risk, but they aren't treating me that way at all. With my son I had about 8 ultrasounds...so not fair! Right now I don't even feel pregnant at all which I realize may be lucky...but it makes me worry that something has already happened with the baby. I even had a dream last night that I had a MC and it's making me miserable! JuicyPear -
Friday, 6 Feb i TOTALLY understand how you feel!! my first visit consisted of the paperwork, a PAP, bloodwork, and a confirmation that i was pregnant....THAT'S IT!! they didnt explain ANYTHING to me!! i'm going crazy over here cause it's my first pregnancy. And when i called to see when my first ultrasound would be, they said it is at 20+ weeks!!!!!!!! i asked if they do an ultrasound to confirm the due date, or to check the heartbeat, and they said not until 20+ weeks, which i thought was unheard of! so, i understand what you're going through with the wait. hope the other docs are better to you!! melababy -
Wednesday, 4 Feb hey girl, if you are feeling like you cant wait that long. Tell your doctor you are having some discomforts..... maybe then he will give it to you earleir to calm your nerves :P If he is at all nice maybe he will. Is there anyway you can change over to a different doctor at that clinic sindi-and-justin -
Wednesday, 4 Feb I called my gynae on January 20th to tell him I got 2 positive tests and he said congrats and we will see you on the 3rd March... Heck it has been a wait for me. I am also impatient and just want to know that all is ok... then last week I called him to tell him I have lost 3kg and cant keep anything down... He said its normal and nausea and vomiting mean healthy pregnancy. I already know that and surely me losing weight all the time is hazardous to my growing baby's health??? Anyway I know exactly how you fell playing the waiting game. It's so intense!!!! Keep Well. Take Care sleepymomma -
Tuesday, 3 Feb OH MY GOD! What a jerk! I probably would have told him "Excuse me?!!" Anyway, I am high risk, so I already had my first ultrasound at 5.5 weeks. (All they saw was a sac and it was too early to hear a hearbeat) I probably wont have another one until 12 weeks, one at 20weeks and ton after that point. Sorry you had an awful first appointment. Hopefully the next ones will better. PeapodMommy -
Tuesday, 3 Feb I am being seen next Tues. at 7 weeks, but that is because I have had 4 m/c in the past so they monitor me a lot more. I think that man sounds HORRIBLE and cannot believe he would ask such a question! Shellie77 -
Tuesday, 3 Feb My Dr office works the same way..maybe you can ask the receptionist to not schedule you with him anymore? I'm pretty sure they would accommodate the request. Good Luck! My first ultrasound is in mid February..I cant wait :) I'll probably have several throughout the pregnancy since I lost my last 2. Here's hoping the 3rd time's a charm. kjslover -
Tuesday, 3 Feb I kinda have a feeling mine will be the same way on Thursday. My Dr is very experienced (why I chose her) but is as cold as a fish! Hopefully they'll do an ultrasound sooner on me though..they have to keep an eye on my cervix. missdaisy623 -
Tuesday, 3 Feb Wow!! All of that sounds exactly like my doctor's office!! There are several doctors and you pick which one you want to see, but you have to get to know all of them because you'll never know who's going to deliver your baby. And my first appointment is the 17th also for the paperwork and bloodwork, but my first ultrasound is the 24th when I will be around 10 weeks or so. I'm like you, I don't take well to insensitive people and I made sure to tell the nurse that when I first called to tell them I was pregnant and she told me which doctors not to choose lol. This is my first, so I'm so excited and want to go to the doctor right now haha. aussie-jess -
Tuesday, 3 Feb Hi!! I hate doctors appointments like that, when you expect it to go a certain way, and it doesnt!
I am very lucky with my doctor, he is pretty good, however when my husband is there he never talks to me, always to my husband! Even when he is asking me a question!! Strange... Guess he sees way too many females and is excited to talk to a male!
Well as for the ultrasound, here in Canada I think you only get 1!! And it is around 18 weeks. Thats all I had with my first pregnancy!!
i really WISH i could have one earlier, but i dont think they do it here! Maybe because my doctor doesnt do them in his office, I have to get it done at a professional place???
So I am guessing my ultrasound wont be until the very beginning of May! AAggrr... It seems sooooo far away!!

Tuesday, 3 Feb Hey Amber. That doctor is a douchebag. lol Let's hope you don't see him again. Hmmm, yeah, your ultrasound is far off! But then again, you are healthy and probably low risk. I am probably considered high risk as I'm 38 and had a m/c at 20 weeks a year ago. I go to my first appointment on 2/18 and I'll be right at 7 weeks then. I just want to hear the heartbeat!
Have you started any symptoms yet? I am feeling fine but hey, it's just a day shy of week 5 so.... ;)
Take care!
Pam :)
