My mood while writing this blog: hurting |
hi ladies..
quick question. for about a week or two.. ive been getting this shooting pain thru my left side of my butt down to the back of my knee. at first, i put it off as nothing- until it started happening more often. i looked up "pain in butt down to knee" and sciatic nerve popped up in my search. everything that it talks about- sounds like what im dealing with... but it doesnt say when people usually start feeling this. i didnt have this at all with my son- ive never even felt a pain like that in that area.
anyways- my questions is.... have any of you gone through this at 9.5 weeks?!!? i read that it can be from the uterus expanding and putting pressure on the nerve, which makes sense- i just figured it would happen when the uterus was alot bigger than it would be at 9 weeks! at times it hurts so bad when i stand up, or sit or lay wrong that it almost drops me straight to the floor. it goes away after a minute like it was never there- but as soon as it starts it feels like my leg is being ripped off!!
thanks ladies =o) hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!

Monday, 27 Jul Hi- I'm a massage therapist and it sounds like you have piriformis syndrome. It mimics sciatic pain and only goes to the knee. The piriformis muscle is a deep butt muscle and it can compress the sciatic nerve if it gets inflamed. Massage can help or there are some stretches you can do. Hope you feel better!! PeapodMommy -
Monday, 27 Jul I remember having this and it was before the baby was moving so definately in my first trimester. Very uncomfortable, but then it went away and now when it does come on it's much milder than before. Sorry to hear it's so painful for you... minkymoo78 -
Monday, 27 Jul I think it's a bit early on in your pregnancy for it to be the sciatic nerve. The pain usually starts when baby is pressing on the sciatic nerve and at the minute your baby will only be a few cm's big so I doubt very much it's that. My sciatica started up a few weeks ago in my right hip and I'm 33 weeks tomorrow so I'm sure it can't be that in your case. If it carries on ask your doc chrissy-511 -
Sunday, 26 Jul That's exactly what sciatic nerve pain is! I had it with my first pregnancy till i had a m/c anyways. It started before 9 weeks i think though. It does hurt like hell though! I feel so sorry for you. I hope it gets better! BabySaunders -
Saturday, 25 Jul I THOUGHT I was having sciatic nerve pain, but from what you're describing maybe I'm wrong. I just have pain in my but cheeks and all along the back of my pelvis. It really hurts, but it's not down my legs or anything. You can get it at any point though. Do you have any pre-existing back conditions? orone -
Saturday, 25 Jul I experienced this pretty early on, and it's mostly gone now, but still rears it's ugly head from time to time. My husband and I have both dealt with this problem and found that sitting on an exercise ball instead of a regular chair when at work or at the computer helps since it forces the correct posture and helps strengthen the muscles that are affected...i hope yours goes away soon!
