19-6-2008 - BIRTH STORY

I went to the hospital on 5/23 with painful-ish contractions that were 3-4 min. apart but they sent me home cause I was only a 2. The next night I went in again. I was still only a 2 but they noticed the baby's heart rate would dip a little when I had a contraction. They ended up admitting me and said I should probably be induced as they were a little worried. By noon the next day I had Leland Keane. It was the easiest birth EVER! Probably cause I had an epidural. I can't seem to go thru labor without out due to extreme sharp pain in right lower part of abdomen.

When he was born, the Dr. held him up and said "I have never seen one of these. The baby has a knot in his cord. Usually the babies don't make it when this happens, but he is perfect!" I couldn't believe how fortunate we were. My own OB said the same thing when I saw her the next week. She has delivered severl still born babies with knots in their cords.

Leland was born May 24, 2008. He weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. and was 20 inches long. And other than that knot in the cord... he's perfect!!!

We named him about 30 minutes before he was born! He is named after my uncle who died when he was 3 yrs old of pneumonia (my mother's brother).

I am so happy and a bit jealous to hear about your easy birth story...but so very happy for you. What a blessing that everything was ok after that knot...scary. I think it is so swee that he is named after his uncle...how special:)
