hi everyone, i watched the documentary done by ricki lake and abby epstein called 'the business of being born' about the immense maternity industry in america. and as most of you ladies are in america, i would like to say how incredibly proud i am of those of you who have chosen to have a home birth in what seems the face of adversity. it is so sad that so many women have the choice removed from them or actually choose to be so removed from the most natural process known to the human race. and from the connection with their child. america has the some of highest rates (per capita) of hosptial births, c-sections, infant mortality and mother mortality. i applaud any woman for taking the power of this natural and beautiful experience back, trusting their bodies and claiming it for their own.

will you be having a home birth? you should! it's amazing. i was also inspired by the documentary when i saw it shortly before it was released on dvd and we had a home birth!
