| 04-2-2012 - 1 week down, a lifetime to go | My mood while writing this blog:Fine & Dandy |
Baby Michael is a week old. He's doing really well, pooing, weeing and feeding like a trooper! I know it will all change on a day-by-day basis, but at the moment he seems to be cluster feeding in the morning, feeding every few hours during the day, I've been giving him a bottle of formula around 7pm when Jenny has a bottle before bed, and he's up for a feed 3 times during the night. The last night feed has been around 5am when it's light, so that feed doesn't feel like a night feed. The dead of the night feeds are the killers, where I find myself falling asleep while feeding him, hahaha. The other night I woke up with him fast asleep on my lap, I have no idea when he fell off the boob or how long I'd been asleep for!
I'm still in shock that I have KIDS! Two of them! It just blows me away that I have a daughter and a son. I'm so proud! If I thought I was content with having Jenny, I'm ten times as content having Jenny and Michael. I just know these feelings of love and appreciativeness are going to be with me all my life and carry me through the years as I watch these two beautiful children grow, learn and blossom. How very lucky am I to be the one to laugh and smile with them, wipe away their tears and guide them through their hurts.
Jenny has been wonderful, really wonderful. She's been very tired (I think Michael is waking her up during the night) and she wants her dummy all the time, which she usually only has for sleeping, but really other than her being a little moody-tired she's handling all the changes in our household really well. I can only hope she continues taking all this in her stride. Michael is getting lots of kisses and cuddles from her, albeit sometimes a bit too roughly! I'm trying to teach her that when he's sitting in his swing in the loungroom that she's not to touch him, and I'm making up for it by letting her have lots of touching at other times. We've put a stool next to Michael's change table, and when I say I'm going to change his nappy she runs into his room and stands on the stool. I wonder how long the novelty of it all will last? I'm just hoping that it lasts long enough for us to get settled in, and once Michael is in a routine and more settled we can take more trips to the park & pool etc like we've always done.
Well, that's about it for now. Just a small update on how things are going and how I'm feeling. Thanks for reading.
Love Tanya.
